Nominations Panel

The role of the Nominations Panel is to identify, recruit, assess and make recommendations to Council for the appointment of members on various World Athletics bodies, including the Commissions, the Screening Panel, the Vetting Panel, the Disciplinary Tribunal, the Election Oversight Panel, the Nationality Review Panel and the Council Members on other independent bodies.

The Nominations Panel is made up of the following members, who were appointed by the World Athletics Council in August 2023:

  • Gordon Orlikow (CAN), Convenor
  • Rob Clarke (GBR)
  • Chantal Brunner (NZL)
  • Catherine Thyra Forde (TTO)
  • Sebastian Coe, World Athletics President


The Panel’s term of appointment will end at the conclusion of the next World Athletics Election Congress in 2027.

Biography - Gord Orlikow (CAN), Convenor

Gord has significant experience in both appointment processes and the sport of athletics. He works for Korn Ferry as a specialist executive level recruitment expert, and daily advises and supports Boards and CEOs in recruiting, assessing and appointing CEO/ senior employees and Board members. In sport he has specific experience as current Chair of the Nominating Commission for the International Paralympic Committee and is also a long-time and current member of the Canadian Olympic Committee Nomination Committee as well as leading various appointments processes in his previous 10-year capacity as President and Board Member of Athletics Canada. He is a former national team decathlete and has extensive experience and an understanding of athletics from a national federation, Area and world perspective having served at all levels.
