Men Decathlon Event 5400 metres
With none of the leaders particularly fond of the 400 metres, or perhaps off their best after a tiring high jump competition, the chance came for other names to gain some points, but not to upset overly the leaders.
The three races were won by Japan’s Akira Kano with 49.62 for 832 points; Uwe Buchele (GER) 50.23 for 804 points and Christopher Hallman – 48.73 for 874 points.
After this fifth and final event of the first day of the Junior Decathlon, Nadir El Fassi remained in the lead with an excellent 4139 points, Leonid Andreev was in second position with 4118 and Donovan Kilmartin third with 4061 points.
