The Area Development Centre is located at the Oceania Athletics Association HQ, Varsity Lakes, Gold Coast. The Development Centre is responsible for the implementation of the World Athletics Development Programme and the coordination of the development activities for athletes, coaches, technical officials and sports administrators in the Oceania region.
The centre also hosts high performance athletes within the Oceania region, providing a centre of excellence for the training and development of international class athletes and coaches.
Event groups: middle/long distance, sprints, throws, walks, hurdles, combined events.
The centre has access to numerous synthetic athletics tracks (including a 10-lane circular track) and various weight training centres which are located on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane and surrounding areas.
Participants are housed in excellent accommodation in fully furnished townhouses in the quiet Gold Coast suburb of Varsity Lakes, with many public transport options.
The centre is located on the beautiful Gold Coast famous for its great weather, amazing beaches and spectacular hinterlands.
