Guner and Manuela Levorato pulled away from the start and ran neck-to-neck to the finish line, where the Turk just pipped the Italian. Levorato was also credited with a time of 11.25 and took silver. Greece's Effrosyni Patsou won bronze in 11.45. Guner wrapped herself in a Turkish flag and kissed the ground once the photo-finish result gave her victory.
Aristotelis Gkavelis of Greece edged Italy's Maurizio Checcucci in the men's 100, winning just one-hundredth of a second ahead in 10.14. The bronze went to Anninos Marcoullides of Cyprus in 10.21.
