World champion Sha’Carri Richardson will target a second successive Prefontaine Classic 100m victory at the Wanda Diamond League meeting on 5 July.

The 24-year-old opened her 2024 campaign at last year’s Prefontaine Classic and won the 100m in 10.83. She returned to Hayward Field one month later and won the US Olympic Trials in a season’s best of 10.71, the second-fastest time of her career behind the 10.65 PB she clocked when winning the 2023 world title.

Richardson then went on to take 100m silver and 4x100m gold at the Olympics in Paris. A month after the Games, Richardson beat Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Zurich, just as she had done at the Prefontaine Classic at the start of the season.

The Prefontaine Classic will be the ninth meeting in this year’s Wanda Diamond League. The 15-meeting circuit starts in Xiamen on 26 April and ends with the final in Zurich on 27-28 August.
