Jakob Ingebrigtsen leads the 1500m in Rabat

US sprint stars Melissa Jefferson-Wooden and Noah Lyles are among the global gold medallists who will kick off their Wanda Diamond League campaign at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea in Rome on Thursday (4).
After stops in Shanghai, Xiamen and Rabat, Rome hosts the fourth Diamond League meeting of the season &ndash; the first of five Diamond League events taking place throughout June.
Rome promises fireworks and Lyles will want to put on a show when he races in the final event on the programme.
The 100m features a clash of Olympic champions as Lyles, who won the 100m in Paris, renews his rivalry with Botswana&rsquo;s Letsile Tebogo, the 200m champion in the French capital.
Lyles clocked 9.95 to win at the Tokyo Continental Tour Gold meeting last month, while Tebogo will want to build on his runner-up finish over 200m in Rabat after finishing eighth in the 100m in Xiamen.
But it won&rsquo;t only be a two-athlete battle as the field also features USA&rsquo;s world indoor 60m champion Jordan Anthony, who has run 9.91 so far this season, as well as Akani Simbine, Ackeem Blake, Ferdinand Omanyala and home favourite Marcell Jacobs.
Jefferson-Wooden is not easing herself in gently as she makes her individual season debut in the 200m against world leader Julien Alfred, who ran 21.86 in Texas in April. It is the first time the two global champions have gone head-to-head over half a lap.
Jefferson-Wooden achieved a sprint treble at the World Championships in Tokyo in September, adding 100m, 200m and 4x100m titles to the Olympic 4x100m gold and 100m bronze she secured in Paris.
Saint Lucia&rsquo;s Alfred topped that Olympic 100m podium and then got world 100m bronze behind Jefferson-Wooden in Tokyo. Great Britain&rsquo;s Amy Hunt is another world medallist in action as the top two from the 200m in Tokyo clash again. Hunt&rsquo;s compatriot Dina Asher-Smith, the 2019 world champion, joins the race along with USA&rsquo;s Anavia Battle and Nigeria&rsquo;s Favour Ofili.
The 400m features Great Britain&rsquo;s Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson as she tests herself over one lap. The 24-year-old opens her outdoor season, in her first race since winning the world indoor 800m title at the end of a short track campaign that included a world record in the 800m and a PB of 51.49 in the 400m.
Making her Diamond League 400m debut, she races specialists Natalia Bukowiecka, Lurdes Gloria Manuel, Henriette J&aelig;ger and Lieke Klaver. Poland&rsquo;s Olympic bronze medallist Bukowiecka opened her 400m season with a win in Bydgoszcz on Friday after getting world indoor silver between Manuel and Klaver in Toruń. Manuel, Klaver and 2025 world indoor bronze medallist J&aelig;ger all contest their first outdoor 400m race of the season.
Former world record-holder Kendra Harrison faces two-time world champion Danielle Williams, Nadine Visser and Pia Skrzyszowska in the 100m hurdles, while the 110m hurdles pits the in-form Jamal Britt, who won in Shanghai and Xiamen, against Rachid Muratake and Trey Cunningham in his first race since getting world indoor bronze.
Emma Zapletalov&aacute; and Anna Cockrell race the 400m hurdles again after battling for the victory &ndash; narrowly claimed by Zapletalov&aacute; &ndash; in Rabat.
<h2>Big shots in the field</h2>
USA&rsquo;s two-time world shot put champion Joe Kovacs, home star Leonardo Fabbri and Jamaica&rsquo;s Olympic bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell have all surpassed 22 metres outdoors already this year and they will battle for top spot in Rome. Kovacs threw a world lead of 22.58m to beat world record-holder and multiple global champion Ryan Crouser in Rabat and they renew their rivalry as part of a stacked field that also features all thee medallists from this year&rsquo;s World Indoor Championships: Tom Walsh, Jordan Geist and Roger Steen.
This year&rsquo;s javelin top two &ndash; world leader Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage of Sri Lanka and Grenada&rsquo;s Anderson Peters &ndash; switched that order in Rabat, where Peters won by just 11 centimetres. They go again in Rome, joined by Julius Yego, Keshorn Walcott and Jakub Vadlejch.
Australia&rsquo;s Olympic champion Nina Kennedy will want to build on her 4.80m pole vault victory in Rabat &ndash; her first Diamond League event since 2024. She again faces Angelica Moser, Molly Caudery and Sandi Morris.
Ukraine&rsquo;s Oleh Doroshchuk is another athlete competing for the first time since the World Indoor Championships and all three medallists are in action as champion Doroshchuk is joined by Mexico&rsquo;s Erick Portillo and Jamaica&rsquo;s Raymond Richards. The full world indoor podium features in the men&rsquo;s triple jump, too, as home star Andy D&iacute;az Hern&aacute;ndez takes on Jordan Scott and Yasser Mohammed Triki.
Milti&aacute;dis Tent&oacute;glou leads the long jump field after his 8.49m leap in Limassol but fans won&rsquo;t get to see him renew his rivalry with home star Mattia Furlani after the world champion sustained an injury in Xiamen.
The home crowd will have Nadia Battocletti to cheer in the 5000m, however, as the double world medallist returns to the scene of her 14:23.15 national record. She achieved that when finishing third behind Beatrice Chebet and Freweyni Hailu last year and Hailu also returns.
Ethiopia&rsquo;s Birke Haylom and Australia&rsquo;s Abbey Caldwell have one 1500m win apiece following their victories in Shanghai and Xiamen, respectively, and they clash again in Rome.

Jefferson-Wooden, Alfred and Lyles among stars starting Diamond League season in Rome

Morocco&rsquo;s Soufiane El Bakkali won the 3000m steeplechase at the Meeting International Mohammed VI d&rsquo;Athletisme de Rabat to ensure that local fans at the Wanda Diamond League meeting went home happy on Sunday (31).
The two-time Olympic and world champion&rsquo;s victory came at the end of an action-packed programme that featured seven meeting records and several world-leading performances.
El Bakkali was among those world leaders as he clocked 7:57.25 to open his season with a win &ndash; his fifth consecutive victory at the Diamond League in Rabat.
Germany&rsquo;s Diamond League champion Frederik Ruppert ran a well-judged race to work his way through the field and secure his second consecutive Rabat runner-up finish in a European record of 7:57.80, while Kenya&rsquo;s Simon Koech also dipped under eight minutes, clocking a PB of 7:59.44. Edmund Serem &ndash; third last year &ndash; was fourth this time in a PB of 8:01.61.
It is just the third race in history in which the top three have all finished inside eight minutes.
USA&rsquo;s Joe Kovacs and Kenny Bednarek both secured statement meeting record-breaking wins, prevailing in a clash of global medallists.
Two-time world shot put champion Kovacs threw a world lead of 22.58m to beat world record-holder Ryan Crouser, improving the meeting record of 22.47m that three-time Olympic and three-time world champion Crouser set in 2017.
Crouser was second this time with 21.59m, while Jordan Geist and Roger Steen completed a US top four.
Two-time Olympic and two-time world silver medallist Bednarek eased to an impressive victory in the 200m. He led at the bend and kicked again to leave his rivals chasing &ndash; reaching the finish line in a meeting record of 19.69 (0.4m/s) to win clear ahead of Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo (19.96).
Tina Clayton got a great start in the 100m and was never challenged &ndash; the world silver medallist running 10.85 (0.3m/s) to lead a Jamaican top three. Lavanya Williams also dipped under 11 seconds with a PB of 10.95, while Jonielle Smith was third in 11.00.
USA&rsquo;s Diamond League champion Jacory Patterson secured back-to-back wins in Rabat &ndash; improving the meeting record to 44.11 after a well-judged run. He held off Great Britain&rsquo;s Matt Hudson-Smith (44.25) and USA&rsquo;s Khaleb McRae (44.40).
Slovakia&rsquo;s world bronze medallist Emma Zapletalova and USA&rsquo;s Olympic silver medallist Anna Cockrell went head-to-head in the 400m hurdles, Zapletalova using the challenge to launch herself to a world-leading national record.&nbsp;They were locked in battle off the final bend, but Zapletalova edged ahead and had the best clearance of the final barrier, using the momentum to take her over the finish line in 52.82 &ndash; her first performance under 53 seconds. Cockrell was second in 53.18.

USA&rsquo;s Cambrea Sturgis stormed to the first Diamond League win of her career, taking the 200m in 22.21 (1.3m/s) ahead of her compatriot Kayla White (22.28).
<h2>Meeting records for Werro and Nuguse</h2>
Switzerland&rsquo;s Diamond League champion Audrey Werro dominated the 800m on her season debut, controlling the race to ease to victory in a meeting record of 1:56.56 &ndash; the fastest outdoor time in the world so far this year. Olympic silver medallist Tsige Duguma chased her down the home straight but left too much to do and had to settle for second place in 1:57.24. World champion Lilian Odira was third in 1:57.27.
Great Britain&rsquo;s world and Olympic finalist Max Burgin tracked the pacemaker in the 800m and was never challenged, striding away from Kenya&rsquo;s world and Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi to win in 1:42.98 &ndash; the fastest time so far this outdoor season. Wanyonyi was second in 1:43.56, followed by Slimane Moula in 1:43.73.
USA&rsquo;s Olympic bronze medallist Yared Nuguse managed to hold on to deny Portugal&rsquo;s world champion Isaac Nader in the 1500m. Nuguse, making his track season debut, led the pack as they reached the home straight, but Nader kicked, glancing over his shoulder in pursuit. He ran out of track and Nuguse launched himself over the line, winning in a meeting record of 3:30.35 to Nader&rsquo;s 3:30.43.
USA&rsquo;s world and Olympic champion Valarie Sion was also among the meeting record-breakers as she won the discus with a final-round throw of 68.75m &ndash; just over two metres farther than runner-up Jorinde van Klinken, the world silver medallist, with 66.72m.
Australia&rsquo;s Olympic pole vault champion Nina Kennedy soared to victory in her first Diamond League contest since 2024. After missing the whole of 2025 through injury, she marked her return with a 4.80m clearance to triumph ahead of Imogen Ayris, Katie Moon and Angelica Moser, who all cleared 4.70m.
Ukraine&rsquo;s world record-holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh won the high jump after clearing 1.97m, while Grenada&rsquo;s Anderson Peters won the javelin with a throw of 86.08m
Nigeria&rsquo;s world record-holder Tobi Amusan won the non-Diamond League 100m hurdles, improving her own meeting record to 12.28 (1.2m/s) to match her season&rsquo;s best set when finishing second to Masai Russell&rsquo;s 12.14 &ndash; which was just 0.02 off the world record &ndash; in Xiamen. World indoor 60m hurdles record-holder Devynne Charlton was second in 12.40.
Ethiopia&rsquo;s two-time world indoor gold medallist Freweyni Hailu timed her kick to perfection to win the non-Diamond League 1500m in 3:58.25.

Morocco’s Soufiane El Bakkali delighted home fans on a night of meeting records and world leads

El Bakkali and Kovacs win rematches in Rabat

The Wanda Diamond League moves to Africa on Sunday (31) as many of the sport&rsquo;s biggest names head to Morocco for the Meeting International Mohammed VI d&rsquo;Athletisme de Rabat.
After stops in Shanghai and Xiamen, Rabat hosts the third meeting of the season, with a series of world and Olympic podium rematches set to take centre stage.
One of the most anticipated clashes will come in the final event of the programme, the men&rsquo;s 3000m steeplechase, where Morocco&rsquo;s double Olympic and two-time world champion Soufiane El Bakkali can expect huge home support as he takes on New Zealand&rsquo;s Geordie Beamish.
Beamish was the surprise winner of the world title in Tokyo, where he beat El Bakkali to gold. The inclusion of Kenya&rsquo;s Edmund Serem means the full World Championships podium will be reunited in Rabat, while Germany&rsquo;s Diamond League champion Frederik Ruppert adds further quality to the field.
The women&rsquo;s pole vault brings together the winner of every global title from 2020 onwards. Three-time world champion Katie Moon of the USA, world silver medallist Sandi Morris of the USA and world bronze medallist Tina Sutej of Slovenia are all entered, recreating the full 2025 World Championships podium.
They will take on Olympic champion Nina Kennedy of Australia, who makes her first Diamond League appearance since September 2024, as well as Britain&rsquo;s two-time world indoor champion Molly Caudery and France&rsquo;s 2025 world indoor champion Marie-Julie Bonnin.
The men&rsquo;s javelin also features a global podium rematch. Sri Lanka&rsquo;s world leader Ramesh Tharanga Pathirage takes on the three medallists from last year&rsquo;s World Championships: Trinidad and Tobago&rsquo;s Keshorn Walcott, Grenada&rsquo;s Anderson Peters and USA&rsquo;s Curtis Thompson. Germany&rsquo;s 2016 Olympic champion Thomas Rohler, Czech Republic&rsquo;s Jakub Vadlejch and Kenya&rsquo;s 2015 world champion Julius Yego &ndash; all 90-metre throwers &ndash; are also in the field.
There&rsquo;s another podium reunion in the men&rsquo;s 400m, where Olympic champion Quincy Hall of the USA is set for his first race in almost a year. He faces Britain&rsquo;s Matt Hudson-Smith and Zambia&rsquo;s Muzala Samukonga, the other two medallists from the Olympic final, while the field also includes sub-44-second performers Khaleb McRae of the USA, Zakithi Nene of South Africa and Jacory Patterson of the USA.
The men&rsquo;s 200m brings together the two most recent Olympic champions. Botswana&rsquo;s Letsile Tebogo will take on Canada&rsquo;s Andre de Grasse, the Rabat meeting record-holder, as well as two medallists from last year&rsquo;s World Championships: USA&rsquo;s Kenny Bednarek and Jamaica&rsquo;s Bryan Levell. South Africa&rsquo;s Sinesipho Dambile, a world finalist who recently clocked 19.77 in Nairobi, also lines up.
Jamaica&rsquo;s Shericka Jackson will look to continue her winning start to the Diamond League season in the women&rsquo;s 200m, having taken victories in both Shanghai and Xiamen. Bahamas&rsquo; Shaunae Miller-Uibo was runner-up in both of those races and will renew that rivalry in Rabat, while USA&rsquo;s Cambrea Sturgis arrives off the back of a 21.93 PB in Nairobi last month.
The women&rsquo;s 100m includes Jamaica&rsquo;s world silver medallist Tina Clayton and Italy&rsquo;s world indoor champion Zaynab Dosso.

Kenya&rsquo;s world and Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi opens his Diamond League campaign in the men&rsquo;s 800m, where he faces USA&rsquo;s 2019 world champion Donavan Brazier, Britain&rsquo;s world and Olympic finalist Max Burgin and Ireland&rsquo;s Mark English, winner of the Diamond League 800m in Shanghai.
Wanyonyi&rsquo;s compatriot Lilian Odira makes her first Diamond League appearance since landing a surprise 800m victory at the World Championships last year. The high-quality field also includes Olympic silver medallist Tsige Duguma, Switzerland&rsquo;s world indoor silver medallist Audrey Werro, USA&rsquo;s world indoor bronze medallist Addison Wiley, South Africa&rsquo;s 2025 world indoor champion Prudence Sekgodiso, Botswana&rsquo;s Oratile Nowe and Ethiopia&rsquo;s Nigist Getachew, who beat Odira in Nairobi last month.
Portugal&rsquo;s world champion Isaac Nader heads the men&rsquo;s 1500m field, where he will face Kenya&rsquo;s world bronze medallist Reynold Cheruiyot, Ethiopia&rsquo;s steeplechase world record-holder Lamecha Girma, France&rsquo;s Azeddine Habz and USA&rsquo;s Yared Nuguse.
<h2>Crouser seeks response in shot put</h2>
USA&rsquo;s Ryan Crouser will look to rebound in the men&rsquo;s shot put after finishing third in Xiamen. The world and Olympic champion faces Jamaica&rsquo;s Rajindra Campbell, who threw a national record of 22.34m to win in Xiamen, as well as Italy&rsquo;s world leader and world bronze medallist Leonardo Fabbri, New Zealand&rsquo;s world indoor champion Tom Walsh and USA&rsquo;s two-time world champion Joe Kovacs.
Ukraine&rsquo;s world record-holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh heads the women&rsquo;s high jump field. The Olympic champion faces Australia&rsquo;s 2022 world champion Eleanor Patterson, Serbia&rsquo;s world bronze medallist Angelina Topic, Poland&rsquo;s world silver medallist Maria Zodzik and Ukraine&rsquo;s Yuliia Levchenko, the world indoor silver medallist who won in Xiamen with 1.99m.
In the women&rsquo;s discus, the winners of the past three world titles will clash. USA&rsquo;s world and Olympic champion Valarie Allman faces 2023 world champion Laulauga Tausaga of the USA and China&rsquo;s 2022 world champion Feng Bin, while the field also includes world silver medallist Jorinde van Klinken of the Netherlands.
Elsewhere, USA&rsquo;s Olympic silver medallist Anna Cockrell and Slovakia&rsquo;s world bronze medallist Emma Zapletalova are among the leading names in the women&rsquo;s 400m hurdles.

Podium rematches the focus in Rabat

China&rsquo;s Yan Ziyi and USA&rsquo;s Masai Russell achieved the second-best performances of all time in the javelin and 100m hurdles, respectively, during a quality Wanda Diamond League meeting in Xiamen, China, on Saturday (23).
They did so in the very first and last Diamond League events of the programme &ndash; Yan throwing 71.74m in the javelin and Russell storming to 12.14 in the hurdles.
Yan launched herself into the history books again, throwing that Asian record of 71.74m in the first round of the competition on her season debut. Only Czechia&rsquo;s Barbora &Scaron;pot&aacute;kov&aacute;, who set her world record of 72.28m in 2008, has ever thrown farther. The Chinese teenager becomes just the sixth athlete to ever surpass 70 metres and the fourth to go beyond 71 metres.
Giving herself a late birthday present, Yan &ndash; who won the world U20 title in 2024 and was a finalist for the World Athletics Women's Rising Star Award in 2025 &ndash; achieved the feat one day after turning 18, improving her own world U20 record of 65.89m set last year with a performance that also surpassed the Diamond League record of 69.57m that had stood since 2011.
&ldquo;I came here with the goal of throwing 65 metres, so it really blew my mind to see that result,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;After that very first throw, I decided to pass the rest as I felt it would be smart to save some energy since I have quite a few international competitions coming soon.
&ldquo;What I want for myself now is consistency. I don't want this 71.74m to be just a one-time thing. I will see how it will go for the next couple of years and prepare for breaking the world record.&rdquo;
USA&rsquo;s Olympic champion Russell edged even closer to the world 100m hurdles record &ndash; her 12.14 (0.5m/s) just two hundredths of a second off the 12.12 set by Nigeria&rsquo;s Tobi Amusan in Oregon in 2022.
Russell already sat second on the world all-time list with 12.17 from Miramar last year but she consolidated that position by going 0.03 quicker with a North American and Diamond League record that saw her leave a sensational field in her wake.
Amusan was second in 12.28, while Bahamian world 60m hurdles record-holder Devynne Charlton further improved her national record to 12.37 for third place. Tokyo Olympic medallist Megan Simmonds was fourth, world champion Ditaji Kambundji was fifth, last year's Diamond League champion Ackera Nugent was sixth and two-time world champion Danielle Williams was seventh.

"I've been saying all year that I'm going to break the world record," said Russell. "I don't know when it's going to happen, but I keep getting closer and closer. I am blessed. I'm ecstatic. All the hard work is truly showing."
Brazil&rsquo;s 2022 world champion Alison dos Santos made a statement in the 400m hurdles &ndash; winning a fierce head-to-head against Norway&rsquo;s world record-holder Karsten Warholm for the second consecutive race after their 300m hurdles clash in Shanghai.
This time Dos Santos improved the world lead by more than a second, clocking 46.72 &ndash; a tenth of a second ahead of three-time world champion Warholm. USA&rsquo;s Caleb Dean was third in 47.75.
Uganda&rsquo;s Peruth Chemutai led from start to finish to clinch her second consecutive Diamond League win in the 3000m steeplechase &ndash; following her victory in Shanghai with another world-leading performance of 8:51.06, the eighth-fastest performance of all time.
The race had been billed as a world record attempt, with the pace lights set at 8:44 to challenge Beatrice Chepkoech&rsquo;s 8:44.32 from 2018. Things got off to an aggressive start, with Chemutai going straight to the front &ndash; ahead of the pacemaker and ahead of the pace lights. She led through 1000m on world record schedule in 2:53.75 but the pace dipped over the next kilometre as 2000m was reached in 5:51.99.
Chemutai, the Tokyo Olympic gold medallist, was followed by Bahrain&rsquo;s Paris Olympic champion Winfred Yavi and Kenya&rsquo;s world champion Faith Cherotich and they were all in contention at the bell. Chemutai maintained her leading position and held off a challenge from Yavi, who stuttered at the final barrier and had to settle for second place in 8:51.54 on her season debut ahead of Cherotich in 8:52.53.
Botswana&rsquo;s world 400m champion Collen Kebinatshipi stormed to the first Diamond League win of his career, running a world-leading meeting record of 43.92 &ndash; his third-fastest ever time and his quickest outside of a major championships. In his first race since anchoring Botswana to 4x400m victory at the World Relays on home soil, Kebinatshipi judged his race to perfection and passed Olympic bronze medallist Muzala Samukonga down the home straight. Samukonga held on for second place in 44.04 ahead of Zakithi Nene in 44.40.
Jamaica&rsquo;s two-time world champion Shericka Jackson backed up her win in Shanghai with another 200m victory, improving on her mark there with a meeting record of 21.87 (0.2m/s) &ndash; just 0.01 off Julien Alfred&rsquo;s world lead and Jackson&rsquo;s fastest time since the 2023 Diamond League Final (21.57). Bahamian two-time Olympic 400m champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo was second in 22.04 and USA&rsquo;s Anavia Battle was third in 22.29.
USA&rsquo;s Jamal Britt was another athlete to repeat his feat from Shanghai, winning the 110m hurdles again in another PB-equalling 13.07 (0.5m/s) &ndash; a time he has achieved four times already so far this season. Further demonstrating his consistency, it was his fifth 110m hurdles win out of five finals so far this year. Japanese record-holder Rachid Muratake was second in 13.13 and Jamaica&rsquo;s world silver medallist Orlando Bennett was third in 13.20.
Kenya&rsquo;s Ferdinand Omanyala turned the tables after finishing runner-up to South Africa&rsquo;s Gift Leotlela in Shanghai, winning the 100m in 9.94 (0.2m/s) to Leotlela&rsquo;s 10.00. USA&rsquo;s Trayvon Bromell was third in 10.03, the same time as Kenny Bednarek in fourth.

Greek two-time Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou matched the world lead of 8.46m to win the long jump. He opened with 8.37m and followed with 8.46m in the third round before deciding to pass his remaining attempts. Jamaica&rsquo;s Tajay Gayle was second with 8.32m, while Bulgaria&rsquo;s Bozhidar Sar&acirc;boyukov was third with 8.29m.
Italy&rsquo;s world champion Mattia Furlani, who jumped a PB of 8.43m to win in Shanghai, finished fourth on 8.28m after retiring from the competition in the fifth round due to a thigh injury.
Jamaica&rsquo;s Olympic bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell dominated the shot put contest, improving his national record by three centimetres to 22.34m for his first Diamond League win. Any of his three valid throws would have been enough to win as he backed up that fifth-round 22.34m with 21.80m in the second round and 21.88m in the third. USA&rsquo;s world indoor silver medallist Jordan Geist was second with 21.52m while world record-holder Ryan Crouser was third with 21.41m in his first Diamond League competition since September 2024.
USA&rsquo;s Olympic and world champion Valarie Sion threw 68.45m to win the discus by more than three metres. She also surpassed 67 metres with three of her other attempts. China&rsquo;s 2022 world champion Feng Bin was second on 65.03m and Dutch world silver medallist Jorinde van Klinken was third on 64.27m.
Ukraine&rsquo;s world indoor silver medallist Yuliia Levchenko won the high jump thanks to her third-time clearance of 1.99m. Her compatriot Iryna Gerashchenko, the Olympic bronze medallist, was second on 1.97m.
Ethiopia&rsquo;s 2022 world U20 champion Addisu Yihune pipped Germany&rsquo;s surprise Shanghai 3000m winner Mohamed Abdilaahi to win the 5000m, clocking a world-leading meeting record of 12:57.32 to Abdilaahi&rsquo;s 12:57.90. Biniam Mehary also dipped under 13 minutes, finishing third in 12:58.51.
Australia&rsquo;s Abbey Caldwell overtook Ethiopia&rsquo;s longtime leader Birke Haylom in the closing stages to win the 1500m &ndash; 3:57.26 to 3:57.79 &ndash; one week on from Haylom&rsquo;s world lead of 3:55.56 to triumph in Shanghai. USA&rsquo;s Emily Mackay followed them home for third in 3:58.13.

Yan and Russell reign supreme in Xiamen with second-best marks in history

One week after a series of record-breaking contests in Shanghai, many of the same athletes will renew their rivalries when the Wanda Diamond League moves on to Xiamen on Saturday (23).
The men&rsquo;s 400m hurdles brings together three-time world champion and world record-holder Karsten Warholm and 2022 world champion Alison dos Santos, just seven days after the Brazilian held off the Norwegian to win the 300m hurdles in Shanghai.
That result continued Dos Santos&rsquo; recent edge in their head-to-head contests. Not only did he beat Warholm over the shorter distance in Shanghai, he has also finished ahead of him in their past two races over 400m hurdles.
They will be joined in Xiamen by world leader Trevor Bassitt, the 2022 world bronze medallist, two-time world bronze medallist Abderrahman Samba and two-time Diamond League Final winner Kyron McMaster.
There will also be a rematch in the women&rsquo;s 100m hurdles, where Olympic champion Masai Russell returns after her meeting record and world-leading 12.25 in Shanghai.
Russell will again face a loaded field that includes world champion Ditaji Kambundji, three-time world indoor champion Devynne Charlton, world record-holder Tobi Amusan and two-time world champion Danielle Williams. Charlton finished second behind Russell in Shanghai, setting a national record of 12.38, while Amusan was third.
The women&rsquo;s 200m will also feature three global gold medallists from the Shanghai race, with two-time world champion Shericka Jackson taking on two-time Olympic 400m champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo and 2023 world 100m champion Sha&rsquo;Carri Richardson.
Jackson won in Shanghai in 22.07, her fastest time since the 2023 Diamond League Final, while Miller-Uibo was second in 22.26 and Richardson fourth in 22.42.
The men&rsquo;s 100m in Xiamen features the top eight finishers from Shanghai, including South Africa&rsquo;s Gift Leotlela, Kenya&rsquo;s Ferdinand Omanyala and USA&rsquo;s Kenny Bednarek. Leotlela won in Shanghai from lane one in 9.97, edging Omanyala and Bednarek, who both clocked 9.98, with just 0.04 separating the first five men.
The men&rsquo;s 110m hurdles field will also be familiar, as all nine athletes from Shanghai line up again. Jamal Britt, who came through late to win there in an equal PB of 13.07, faces world champion Cordell Tinch and Japanese record-holder Rachid Muratake.
<h2>Chemutai and Cherotich renew steeplechase rivalry</h2>
The women&rsquo;s 3000m steeplechase produced one of the tightest finishes in Shanghai, and the top two will clash again in Xiamen.
Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai won in 8:51.47, just 0.01 ahead of world champion Faith Cherotich. They will be joined this time by Olympic champion Winfred Yavi, who makes her season debut.
The field also includes Tunisia&rsquo;s Marwa Bouzayani and Ethiopia&rsquo;s Kena Tufa, who both dipped inside nine minutes in Shanghai.
Surprise Shanghai 3000m winner Mohamed Abdilaahi steps up to the 5000m in Xiamen after his German record of 7:25.77 last weekend. He faces Sweden&rsquo;s world 10,000m bronze medallist Andreas Almgren, one of six men in the field with a PB faster than 12:50.
In the women&rsquo;s 1500m, Birke Haylom heads to Xiamen after her meeting record of 3:55.56 in Shanghai. The Ethiopian will face world silver medallist Dorcus Ewoi and the quintet of Australians who broke four minutes in Shanghai, including Abbey Caldwell and Jessica Hull.
In his first race since anchoring Botswana to 4x400m victory at the World Relays on home soil in Gaborone, Collen Kebinatshipi heads the men&rsquo;s 400m field in Xiamen. The world champion lines up against teammate and fellow world 4x400m champion Bayapo Ndori, world indoor champion Christopher Morales Williams of Canada, South Africa&rsquo;s Zakithi Nene and Olympic bronze medallist Muzala Samukonga.
<h2>Crouser returns to Diamond League action</h2>
World record-holder Ryan Crouser will make his first Diamond League appearance since September 2024 when he contests the men&rsquo;s shot put in Xiamen.
The multiple world and Olympic champion has not competed since winning his third world title in Tokyo last year. His most recent Diamond League appearance was also his last defeat, and the last time he failed to throw beyond 22 metres in a final was in April 2022.
Crouser takes on world leader Leonardo Fabbri, world silver medallist Uziel Munoz, world indoor champion Tom Walsh and Olympic bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell.
The men&rsquo;s long jump brings together world champion Mattia Furlani and Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou. Furlani jumped an outdoor world lead and PB of 8.43m to win in Shanghai, where Bozhidar Saraboyukov was second with 8.07m. Both men compete again in Xiamen, where they will be joined by 2019 world champion Tajay Gayle.
The women&rsquo;s discus features Valarie Sion, the world and Olympic champion, along with Jorinde van Klinken, 2023 world champion Laulauga Tausaga and 2022 world champion Feng Bin.
In the women&rsquo;s javelin, Diamond League champion Elina Tzengko faces Olympic champion Haruka Kitaguchi, European silver medallist Adriana Vilagos, world U20 record-holder Yan Ziyi and 2023 world silver medallist Flor Denis Ruiz Hurtado.

Shanghai rematches take centre stage in Xiamen

Jessica Schilder produced the best shot put mark in the world for 14 years, throwing a Diamond League record of 21.09m at the season-opening Wanda Diamond League meeting in Shanghai on Saturday (16).
The world champion&rsquo;s huge fifth-round effort improved her own Dutch record by 40cm, broke Valerie Adams&rsquo; Diamond League record from 2012, and moved Schilder to 29th on the world all-time list. It also made her the newest member of the 21-metre club since 2009.
Before the fifth round, no one in the field had gone beyond 20 metres. But the competition then burst into life as Schilder launched her record-breaking throw, while world indoor champion Chase Jackson reached 20.46m and two-time world indoor champion Sarah Mitton threw 20.42m. All three surpassed 20 metres again in the final round, but the positions remained unchanged.
Schilder&rsquo;s previous PB of 20.69m had been set at the 2025 European Indoor Championships and equalled earlier this year indoors, while her previous outdoor best was the 20.47m she threw in Xiamen last year. Shanghai was her first competition since finishing fourth at the World Indoor Championships in March.
&ldquo;I can&rsquo;t comprehend it,&rdquo; said Schilder. &ldquo;It is such a huge thing, it is crazy. My first outdoor competition is a big deal for me; it is always something I find quite hard. During my first throws, my coach and I were not happy, so we tried a few different things and eventually it worked.&rdquo;
<h2>Meeting records fall on the track and in the field</h2>
Mohamed Abdilaahi led a race of historic depth in the men&rsquo;s 3000m, smashing the German record by five seconds to win in a meeting record of 7:25.77.
After being paced through 2000m in 5:00.4, Abdilaahi took up the running and opened up a gap on the rest of the field. Kenya&rsquo;s Reynold Cheruiyot and Sweden&rsquo;s Andreas Almgren closed on the German down the home straight, but couldn&rsquo;t catch him in time.
The previous German record had stood since 1998, but Abdilaahi &ndash; who already holds national records at 5000m and 10,000m &ndash; took it into new territory as he held off Cheruiyot, who clocked a PB of 7:26.11, and Almgren, who set a national record of 7:26.48.
Fourteen men dipped inside 7:30 &ndash; comfortably the greatest depth ever achieved in a single 3000m race. The previous record was seven men under 7:30 in one race. Before Shanghai, there had been 99 sub-7:30 outdoor performances in history; this one race added 14 more.
Eduardo Herrera set a Mexican record of 7:27.63, while Bahrain&rsquo;s Birhanu Balew clocked an Asian record of 7:29.60 and Uruguay&rsquo;s Santiago Catrofe set a South American record of 7:29.72.
Mondo Duplantis also delivered a meeting record, clearing 6.12m at the first time of asking in the men&rsquo;s pole vault, adding a centimetre to the mark he set last year. The Swedish superstar then attempted a would-be world record height of 6.32m but was unsuccessful.
Australia&rsquo;s Kurtis Marschall was second with 5.80m. Greece&rsquo;s Emmanouil Karalis achieved some great height with his attempts at 5.90m but brought the bar down each time.
Olympic champion Masai Russell produced another meeting record and world lead in the women&rsquo;s 100m hurdles, coming through to defeat a high-quality field in 12.25 (0.4m/s). World indoor champion Devynne Charlton was second in a Bahamian record of 12.38, with world record-holder Tobi Amusan third in 12.41. World champion Ditaji Kambundji was fifth in 12.82, while two-time world champion Danielle Williams did not finish.
In the men&rsquo;s discus, Kristjan Ceh broke a meeting record that had stood since 2010, the first year of the Diamond League. The Slovenian threw 70.31m in round two to improve the previous mark of 69.69m, then backed it up with 70.25m in round three before going farther still with 70.58m in the fourth round. Matthew Denny was second with 67.54m.
Uganda&rsquo;s 2021 Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai edged a thrilling women&rsquo;s 3000m steeplechase, winning in 8:51.47 as world champion Faith Cherotich finished just 0.01 behind in 8:51.48.
Behind them, Tunisia&rsquo;s Marwa Bouzayani set a national record of 8:58.09 and Ethiopia&rsquo;s Kena Tufa improved her PB by more than 30 seconds to 8:59.66. Bouzayani and Tufa became the 16th and 17th women to break nine minutes, while the race marked just the third time four women have bettered 9:00 in the same steeplechase.
Birke Haylom led an Ethiopian one-two in the women&rsquo;s 1500m, winning in 3:55.56 to break the meeting record set by Faith Kipyegon 10 years ago. Olympic 800m silver medallist Tsige Duguma was second in 3:55.71 in just her second ever 1500m race &ndash; and her first outdoors &ndash; while Australia&rsquo;s Abbey Caldwell finished strongly to take third in a PB of 3:56.12. Eleven women, five of them from Australia, finished inside four minutes.
Mark English timed his finish to perfection to win a tightly packed men&rsquo;s 800m in 1:43.85, the second-fastest time of his career, breaking the meeting record that had stood since 2018. Botswana&rsquo;s Kethobogile Haingura was second in 1:43.89, and the top six were separated by just a third of a second.
<h2>Furlani, Dos Santos and Kipyegon set world leads</h2>
World champion Mattia Furlani added to the strong early-season standard in the men&rsquo;s long jump, producing an outdoor world lead and PB of 8.43m in the second round. The Italian won comfortably from Bozhidar Saraboyukov, who jumped 8.07m.
There was another world lead in the men&rsquo;s 300m hurdles, where 2022 world champion Alison dos Santos held off a fast-finishing Karsten Warholm to win in 33.01. That makes the Brazilian the second-fastest man in history at the distance, behind Warholm&rsquo;s world best of 32.67. Warholm was close behind in 33.05.
Faith Kipyegon, contesting her first track race of the year, won the women&rsquo;s 5000m in a world-leading 14:24.14, edging a race in which Ethiopian athletes filled the next seven places. Likina Amebaw was second in a PB of 14:24.21 and Senayet Getachew third in 14:24.71.

Two-time world champion Shericka Jackson came within 0.01 of the meeting record in the women&rsquo;s 200m, winning in 22.07 &ndash; her fastest time since the 2023 Diamond League Final. Shaunae Miller-Uibo was second in 22.26, her fastest since the semifinals of the 2021 Olympic Games, while Sha&rsquo;Carri Richardson finished fourth in 22.42.
Jackson&rsquo;s Jamaican compatriot Nickisha Pryce won a close women&rsquo;s 400m in 49.75, just ahead of USA&rsquo;s Aaliyah Butler, who clocked 49.78.
In the men&rsquo;s 110m hurdles, USA&rsquo;s Jamal Britt came through strongly at the end to win in an equal PB of 13.07, with world champion Cordell Tinch second in 13.10.
South Africa&rsquo;s Gift Leotlela took the men&rsquo;s 100m from lane one, winning in 9.97 as he held off Ferdinand Omanyala and Kenny Bednarek, who both clocked 9.98. Just 0.04 separated the first five men. Elsewhere, Monae&rsquo; Nichols won the women&rsquo;s long jump with 6.89m.

Schilder breaks Diamond League record with 21.09m in Shanghai

Many Olympic and world champions will get their Wanda Diamond League seasons under way when the first event of the 2026 series takes place in Shanghai/Keqiao on Saturday (16).
World record-holders Faith Kipyegon, Mondo Duplantis and Karsten Warholm will be joined by fellow global gold medallists such as Shericka Jackson, Cordell Tinch, Letsile Tebogo, Ditaji Kambundji and Daniel St&aring;hl as the sport&rsquo;s leading stars look to make some early season statements.
Sprint showdowns, distance duels and fierce field clashes will set the tone for the season, which features 14 Diamond League meetings before the two-day final in Brussels in September.
Multiple global medallists will collide in the women&rsquo;s 200m. Jamaica&rsquo;s two-time world 200m champion Jackson and USA&rsquo;s world and Olympic 100m medallist Sha'Carri Richardson both contest their first half-lap races of the year, lining up alongside world 200m silver medallist Amy Hunt, two-time Olympic 400m champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo, last year&rsquo;s winner Anavia Battle and Jenna Prandini, who has already clocked 10.97 for 100m and 22.36 for 200m this season.
Olympic 200m champion Tebogo races the 100m, fresh from forming part of Botswana&rsquo;s victorious 4x400m team on home soil at the World Athletics Relays. The field is stacked with sub-10.00 sprinters including two-time Olympic and world 200m medallist Kenny Bednarek, two-time world 100m bronze medallist Trayvon Bromell, South African record-holder Akani Simbine and Lachlan Kennedy, who ran 9.96 to win the Australian title last month.
The women&rsquo;s 100m hurdles stars a clash between the past four global outdoor champions &ndash; Kambundji, Masai Russell, Danielle Williams and world record-holder Tobi Amusan &ndash; and the athlete who has won the past three world indoor 60m hurdles titles: Devynne Charlton.&nbsp;
Tinch stormed into the spotlight in Shanghai last year, clocking 12.87 to move to fourth on the world 110m hurdles all-time list. He returns as the world champion and Diamond League champion, ready for a rematch against Olympic silver medallist Orlando Bennett and Japanese record-holder Rachid Muratake, who clocked 12.92 in 2025.
After winning the 400m hurdles in Shanghai last year, three-time world gold medallist Warholm returns to race the 300m hurdles &ndash; an event for which he owns the world best of 32.67. He races for the first time since the World Championships in Tokyo, where he finished fifth, and he&rsquo;s not easing himself in gently as he faces 2022 world champion Alison dos Santos, 2023 world silver medallist Kyron McMaster and 2022 world bronze medallist Trevor Bassitt.
<h2>Duplantis and Kipyegon make season debuts</h2>
Swedish pole vault superstar Mondo Duplantis competed three times during the indoor season &ndash; his performances including another world record &ndash; 6.31m &ndash; and another world indoor title win. Now he opens his outdoor season &ndash; the start of a campaign that he hopes will end with another crown from the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest in September.
He might not have things all his own way this year, however. In Shanghai he faces Emmanouil Karalis, who moved to second on the world all-time list with a 6.17m clearance in February, as well as two-time world champion Sam Kendricks and two-time world bronze medallist Kurtis Marschall.
Kenya&rsquo;s Faith Kipyegon makes her season opener in the non-Diamond League 5000m &ndash; the event in which she won world gold in 2023 as part of a 1500m and 5000m double. Since then, she has added another world 1500m title and another Olympic 1500m crown to her haul, which now stands at three Olympic and five world titles.
She ran a world 1500m record of 3:48.68 during the Diamond League meeting in Eugene last year and will want to make her mark in the 5000m again after running 14:05.20 &ndash; a since-improved world record &ndash; in Paris in 2023. Her competition this time includes two-time world U20 champion Medina Eisa, two-time world U20 cross-country champion Marta Alemayo and Hirut Meshesha.
Jess Hull got Olympic silver and world bronze behind Kipyegon in Paris and Tokyo, and the Australian races that distance in Shanghai against the athlete who got world silver between them &ndash; Dorcus Ewoi. Olympic 800m silver medallist Tsige Duguma makes her outdoor 1500m debut.
Kenya&rsquo;s 2019 world 1500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot steps up to contest the 3000m against his compatriots Jacob Krop, Edwin Kurgat and Reynold Cheruiyot, the world 1500m bronze medallist. World 10,000m bronze medallist Andreas Almgren adds further strength to the field.
The men&rsquo;s 800m includes three sub-1:43 runners in Wycliffe Kinyamal, Ben Pattison and Peter Bol, while the women&rsquo;s 400m pits Salwa Eid Naser against Nickisha Pryce and two-time world bronze medallist Sada Williams.
Three global gold medallist race in the 3000m steeplechase as world champion Faith Cherotich faces 2022 world champion Norah Jeruto and Tokyo Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai.
There will be a clash of titans in the men&rsquo;s discus as the in-form Matt Denny and Steven Richter go up against three-time world champion Daniel St&aring;hl, Olympic champion Roj&eacute; Stona, 2022 world champion Kristjan Čeh and world bronze medallist Alex Rose. Denny and Richter both threw 74 metres in Ramona last month.
A host of global gold medallists are in shot put action, too. Two-time world outdoor champion Chase Jackson won her first world indoor title in Poland in March ahead of two-time champion Sarah Mitton and they renew their rivalry against world champion Jessica Schilder and Olympic champion Yemisi Mabry (n&eacute;e Ogunleye).
Lex Brown will want to continue her strong form in the long jump after leaping 7.07m last month &ndash; one centimetre farther than the PB Larissa Iapichino set last year. They both compete in Shanghai against world bronze medallist Natalia Linares and 2025 world indoor champion Claire Bryant.

Global stars in Shanghai for start of Diamond League season

USA&rsquo;s world indoor 800m champion Cooper Lutkenhaus will make his Wanda Diamond League debut at the BAUHAUS-Galan meeting in Stockholm on 7 June.
The 17-year-old became the youngest world champion in athletics history when he won the 800m at the World Indoor Championships in Kujawy Pomorze last month. Now he is focused on the outdoor season.
&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve watched several races from BAUHAUS-Galan online in recent years,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;The names that have competed there have basically been among the greatest of all time.
&ldquo;They truly love athletics in Sweden, and I&rsquo;m looking forward to experiencing it. It&rsquo;s a dream come true for me. I&rsquo;m going to give everything I have at Stockholm Stadium. It&rsquo;s going to be a lot of fun.&rdquo;
After racing in Stockholm, Lutkenhaus&nbsp;is due to compete at the Prefontaine Classic &ndash; also a Diamond League meeting &ndash; on home soil in Eugene on 3 July.
That will see him return to the same Hayward Field track on which he ran a world U18 best of 1:42.27 last year to finish second at the US Championships, securing a place to make his World Championships debut in Tokyo.
Other athletes announced for the Stockholm meeting include world 800m short track record-holder Keely Hodgkinson and world pole vault record-holder Mondo Duplantis.
Olympic champion Grant Holloway, world champion Cordell Tinch and Olympic silver medallist Daniel Roberts are the latest athletes announced for the Eugene meeting, set for a 110m hurdles clash.

World indoor champion Lutkenhaus to make Diamond League debut in Stockholm

Fresh from winning world indoor titles last weekend, Mondo Duplantis and Josh Kerr have both confirmed further appearances on the Wanda Diamond League circuit later this year.
Pole vault world record-holder Duplantis will compete on the shores of Lake Geneva on 20 August, one day before the main Athletissima meeting in Lausanne on 21 August.
The Swedish superstar &ndash; who has already signed up for the Diamond League meetings in Doha, Keqiao, Stockholm, Paris, London and Silesia &ndash; has dominated his event in recent years, breaking the world record 15 times and notching up nine global titles.
Meanwhile, two-time world indoor 3000m champion Kerr will headline the men&rsquo;s Emsley Carr mile at the Novuna London Athletics Meet on 18 July.
Competing on home soil, the British middle-distance star &ndash; winner of the world title in 2023 and two-time Olympic medallist &ndash; will line up in front of a capacity crowd at the London Stadium.
The 2026 Wanda Diamond League season features 15 meetings across four continents, running from Doha on 8 May through to the two-day final in Brussels on 4-5 September.

Multiple world and Olympic gold medallists are set for Wanda Diamond League clashes in Xiamen and Silesia, with a world-class men&rsquo;s 400m field confirmed for the season&rsquo;s third meeting in China and a mouthwatering showdown lined up for the women&rsquo;s 100m in Poland.
The reigning Olympic, world and Diamond League champions in the men&rsquo;s 400m will go head to head in Xiamen on 23 May. Olympic champion Quincy Hall, world champion Collen Kebinatshipi and Diamond League champion Jacory Patterson are all set to compete, alongside world bronze medallist Bayapo Ndori and Olympic bronze medallist Muzala Samukonga.
The race will mark a return to Diamond League action for Hall, whose progress since claiming Olympic gold in Paris in 2024 has been affected by injury, while Patterson arrives as the defending Diamond League champion after securing the series title in 2025.
Kebinatshipi and Ndori, meanwhile, won gold and bronze respectively at the World Championships in Tokyo last year, and both were part of Botswana&rsquo;s gold medal-winning 4x400m squad. Samukonga adds further strength to the field, having become a regular presence on Diamond League podiums and having claimed victory in Rome on the way to Olympic bronze in 2024.
Later in the season, attention will turn to Silesia on 23 August, where Olympic champion Julien Alfred and world champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden will go head to head in the women&rsquo;s 100m. The pair have clashed twice in global finals with St Lucia&rsquo;s Alfred winning the 2024 Olympic final ahead of Jefferson-Wooden, who claimed bronze. The positions were reversed in the World Championships final last year, where the US sprinter claimed victory.
They are also tied on Diamond League head-to-heads with Alfred finishing ahead of Jefferson-Wooden at the 2024 Pre Classic before the US sprinter gained revenge at the same meeting in 2025.
Last year in Silesia, in a race where Alfred was absent, Jefferson-Wooden equalled Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce&rsquo;s meeting record of 10.66.
Poland&rsquo;s two-time European silver medallist Ewa Swoboda is also set to compete.
Xiamen is the third leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League season and Silesia the 13th, with the series beginning in Doha on 8 May and ending with the two-day final in Brussels on 4-5 September.

Global sprint champions set to clash in Xiamen and Silesia

Faith Kipyegon will race the 3000m when she returns to the scene of her world mile record &ndash; the Meeting Herculis EBS in Monaco &ndash; on 10 July.
Kenya&rsquo;s three-time Olympic 1500m champion ran 4:07.64 to set her world mile record at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Monaco in 2023 and more recently made her 10km debut on the roads of Monaco, running 29:46.
Her mile mark is one of five world records the 32-year-old has set at Diamond League meetings in the past three years.
Her most recent was achieved at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene in July, when she ran 3:48.68 to improve her own world 1500m record by 0.36.
Last year Kipyegon went within one second of the long-standing world 3000m record when she clocked 8:07.04 for the second-fastest time in history at the Diamond League meeting in Silesia.
As well as her three Olympic titles and series of world records, Kipyegon has claimed five world titles and five Diamond League 1500m titles.
She is the first athlete announced for this year&rsquo;s Meeting Herculis EBS, the 10th Diamond League meeting of the season.

Kipyegon to return to Monaco for Herculis 3000m

World champions Melissa Jefferson-Wooden and&nbsp;Cole Hocker&nbsp;are among the first athletes announced for the Prefontaine Classic &ndash; the ninth meeting on this year&rsquo;s Wanda Diamond League circuit &ndash; in Eugene on 4 July.
USA&rsquo;s Jefferson-Wooden returns to defend her 100m title. Her victory at Hayward Field last year formed part of a sensational season for the 24-year-old as she followed her Prefontaine Classic victory with US 100m and 200m title wins and Diamond League victories in Silesia and Brussels before completing a golden 100m, 200m and 4x100m treble at the World Championships in Tokyo.
She improved her 100m PB to 10.65 at the US Championships in Eugene and then to 10.61 in Tokyo to become the fourth-fastest sprinter of all time. She has not been beaten over 100m since the Olympic final in Paris in 2024, when she got bronze behind Julien Alfred and Sha'Carri Richardson.
Jefferson-Wooden will be joined at the Prefontaine Classic by her compatriot and fellow global gold medallist Hocker, who added the world 5000m crown to his Olympic 1500m title in Tokyo.
He will contest the Bowerman Mile in July as part of a field that will also star Australia&rsquo;s Cameron Myers and New Zealand&rsquo;s Sam Ruthe.
Hocker ran a PB of 3:47.43 in last year&rsquo;s Bowerman Mile when he finished fourth behind Niels Laros, Yared Nuguse and Azeddine Habz. Myers was a further two places back in 3:47.50.
Myers has already clinched wins in Boston and New York on the World Indoor Tour this year, clocking a 3:47.57 mile at the latter.
Ruthe, meanwhile, ran an outright world U18 mile best of 3:48.88 in Boston &ndash; a performance that saw the 16-year-old <a href="https://worldathletics.org/worldathletics-plus/athlete-of-the-month" target="_blank" rel="noopener">selected by fans as the athlete of the month for January</a>.
<h2>Duplantis set for Doha, Silesia and Shanghai/Keqiao</h2>
Following his <a href="https://worldathletics.org/competitions/diamond-league/news/mondo-duplantis-london-diamond-league-2026" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announcement for the Novuna London Athletics Meet</a>, world pole vault record-holder Mondo Duplantis has been confirmed for three more Wanda Diamond League meetings.
The Swedish 26-year-old will start his campaign at the Diamond League season opener in Doha on 8 May before heading to Shanghai/Keqiao on 16 May, London on 18 July and Silesia on 23 August.
As well as working towards another Diamond League title, these meetings will form part of his preparations for the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest in September, for which Duplantis has been announced as the <a href="https://worldathletics.org/competitions/world-athletics-ultimate-championship/2026/news/press-releases/mondo-duplantis-ultimate-championship-star" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inaugural Ultimate Star</a>.
