Due to the appalling weather conditions, this event was held in the nearby indoor stadium for saftey reasons.
High Jump may not be Andres Silva's strongest event, but he performs consistently enough to keep at bay the rest of the field.
The Uruguayan maintained his lead at the head of the Octathlon this afternoon by clearing 1.83 metres, worth 653 points.
None of the athletes jumping higher are within reach of Silva, but Benjamin Chevrol dropped back into fourth position, after clearing 1.77, worth 602 points. He was overtaken by Andrei Krauchanka of Belarus, who far outclassed the rest of the young combined event athletes with his 2.07 metre clearance, worth a massive 868 points.
Lukas Patera is still in the second spot after six events. A 1.80 metre clearance gave him 627 points.
Silva currently has 5043 points, Patera 4954, Krauchanka 4863 and Chevrol 4855.
