One of the greatest lineup of world stars ever to assemble for a one day meet on this side of the hemisphere, will be on view this evening in the national stadium at the Jamaica International Invitational track and field meet.

Triple Olympic champion Marion Jones headlines the cast which also includes Million Dollar Mutola' the Golden league's only ever individual Jackpot pot winner, the ever green Gail Devers, double World 400m Hurdles champion Felix Sanchez, history's fastest man Tim Montgomery, and the Paris World 100m champion Kim
Collins...... the meet will feature 12 international events.

Marion Jones - 100m and Long Jump

Jones says that come tonight she will only one thing on her mind, victory in here two events, the 100m and the Long Jump.

"I don't think I have to prove anything to anyone, I have said this on many occasions, when you are a top name, people will always be coming after you, but the important thing is that I am here in Jamaica and will try to please the local fans."

Jones in her best competitive condition should have little or no problem pushing aside her rivals in the 100m, Sydney bronze medal winner Tayna Lawrence and Paris World championship seventh place finisher Aleen Bailey, being the main contenders.

However, Jones who is the Olympic Long Jump bronze medallist could be asked to leave the long jump pit to take part in the 100m, with long jump set to start 15 minutes before the sprint.

Montgomery faces stiff opposition

Tim Montgomery, unlike his partner may face stiffer opposition in
the men's 100m where the World record holder will take on Nigeria's Deji Aliu, and USA's Paris 200m silver medallist Darvis Patton, and Coby Miller who are all ready to pounce.

Mutola supreme and Sanchez back on the flat

Mutola, the World and Olympic 800m champion is set to have a
very easy night, as the 800m is far from world class and the Mozambique legend should register a simple victory.

Sanchez has proven to be almost invincible in the 400m hurdles, but he has decided to contest the flat 400 at this meet, a distance at which he took a surprise defeat last weekend when he finsihed 4th on his 'home'track in Santo Domingo.

Sanchez will be tested by 1994 World junior champion Michael
Mcdonald,  Commonwealth champion Michael Blackwood and the outstanding World junior bronze medallist Jermaine Gonzales.

Collins goes at 200m

Kim Collins, like Sanchez, has decided to skip his pet event and will instead contest the 200m with Julian Golding, (GBR), Coby Miller and Christopher Williams (JAM).

The men's Long Jump should be a cracker with Paris World championships silver medallist James Beckford, World  Indoor champion Savante Stringfellow and Eric Walder (USA) all in
action.

Gail Devers should be untroubled in the women's sprint hurdles.

The National Stadium was renovated two years ago for the World Junior championships, and if the buzz around Kingston is anything to go by, then we are in for a brilliant night of athletics.
