Road Runners announced that two-time Olympic Marathon medal winner Yuko Arimori of Japan has entered the Circle of Friends New York Mini 10km on Saturday 11 June in Central Park in one of the rare competitive outings these days by the 38-year-old star.

Arimori won the silver medal in the 1992 Olympic Marathon and the bronze in the 1996 Olympic Marathon.

She last competitively raced in 2001 when she won the Gold Coast Marathon in Australia and finished 10th at the Tokyo International Ladies Marathon.

"Yuko is a legend in our sport and adds to the great history of runners to toe the starting line at the Min," said Mary Wittenberg, President and CEO of New York Road Runners.

Arimori joins other Olympians Benita Johnson of Australia, Colleen De Reuck of the USA and Lornah Kiplagat of the Netherlands in the all-woman's race.
