May) and LA (Home Depot Invitational, 01-June) were successful, the one that means the most is the US is the National Championship.
I am going for my first outdoors National Championship victory, and as long as I sit down on the left and sprint to the middle, the rest will take care of itself. I look forward to sharing this meet with my five-month-old son, who will be in attendance to watch his Dad compete for a National title.
[Note: Kevin's first child, Kevin Toth Jr, was born on Tuesday, January 21, 2003].
While I was supposed to be at the US Open last weekend, I had to pull out due to an injury to my throwing hand. As it turned out, that was one of the best decisions that I could have made.
I was able to give my hand a rest and receive treatment on it. It is feeling much better and is getting stronger everyday. At the same time I was taking care of my hand, it gave my the opportunity to spend some much needed time with my wife and son. I look forward to having them travel with me to California, where my family and I will stay with my coach Mike Mielke and his wife Candy.
I am going to the West coast a week ahead of the Nationals to work with Mike and get ready to achieve my goal. Once the meet is over, Laura, Kevin Jr. and I will head off for a few days of vacation on the coast. I look forward to this time, knowing that the rest of the summer will be busy with travel to and from Europe.
I will talk to you after the National Championships,
Kevin Toth
