The world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, has confirmed that he will compete on the night of Friday 22 July at the two-day IAAF Diamond League meeting in London this summer, organisers announced on Wednesday (23).

The world record-holder will take to the track at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London for what will be one of the best athletics meetings in the world and one of the showpiece events in the British sporting summer.

Staged at the former Olympic Stadium on 22-23 July, the event will provide the final races for many of the world’s best athletes before they head to Rio for the Olympic Games.

In 2015, Bolt successfully defended his 100m, 200m and 4x100m titles at the IAAF World Championships and is the two-time Olympic champion at 100m, 200m and 4x100m.

He has previously flourished under the floodlights on the Friday night of the London Anniversary Games, winning the 100m in both 2013 and 2015 and is looking forward to experiencing the ‘special atmosphere’ again.

“The London Anniversary Games will be one of my last races before the Olympic Games in Rio," said Bolt. "It will be good to return to the Olympic Stadium on the Friday night and get more of the special atmosphere that the fans always produce. I always get great support in the UK and I expect the stadium to be packed.”
