Svetlana Feofanova and Yelena Isinbayeva, Russia's record-breaking pole-vaulters are set to compete in two of UK Athletics' international summer meets this summer.

World outdoor champion Svetlana Feofanova, and World record holder Yelena Isinbayeva, who took the indoor crown in Budapest this winter, will go head to head at the Norwich Union British Grand Prix in Gateshead - IAAF Super Grand Prix - on 27 June, and again one month later at the Norwich Union International in Birmingham.

Between them the pair have broken an astonishing 14 World records indoor and out.

Although they will be teammates and hot favourites at this year's Olympic Games, they admit to not sharing the closest of relationships off the track and rarely converse during competition.

The Gateshead and Birmingham dates form a key part of their build up to Athens, and both Feofanova and Isinbayeva will be desperate to claim a morale boosting victory.

Ian Stewart, meeting director for UK Athletics, said: "Athletics is a sport that thrives on head-to-head action between the very best in each event, and these two have a rivalry that should make their appearances in Britain thrilling affairs."
