World Junior women’s 5000m silver medallist Catherine Chikwakwa has quit her contract in Germany and has opted to continue her career in the United States.
The sole Malawian professional athlete has for the past two years been in Germany, but in a dramatic turn of events, Chikwakwa has announced that she will not go back to Germany because she has arranged to study and compete at Malone College, a small Christian college in Canton, Ohio, about 40 minutes southeast of Cleveland.
"I have decided to go to the US because I want to study law. I was studying Business Administration at a German athletics university but I want to change the course," confirmed the 19 year-old runner who is also reigning Southern Africa Cross Country champion.
