Former World Athlete of the Year Allyson Felix will compete at the DN Galan in Stockholm, an IAAF Diamond League meeting, on 21 August.
The organisers have announced that Felix will run the 200m, the event she won the last time she was in Stockholm in 2010.
The previous year, in 2009, she set the current 200m stadium record of 21.88. She also holds the record for double that distance, the 400m, with a time of 49.70 from the DN Galan in 2007.
“It will be great to be in Stockholm again. I have really good memories of Stockholm’s Olympic Stadium and, of course, the diamonds I won for the two stadium records provide an extra souvenir,” said Felix.
“The atmosphere there is always special and I’m hoping for the same support from the crowd which I’ve had in the past.”
The 28-year-old US sprinter has won a total of four Olympic gold medals and eight IAAF World Championships gold medals.
Her 200m personal best, 21.69, is the fourth fastest ever. She is currently fifth on this year’s world list with a time of 22.34.
DN Galan’s meeting director Anders Tallgren expressed his pleasure at Felix’s participation.
”We are extremely proud that Allyson Felix has chosen to return to Stockholm and to DN Galan," he said. She is one of the most successful athletes of the past decade and has a strong connection to the Stockholm Stadium. It will be an exciting race with Allyson, our young Swedish hope Irene Ekelund, and the rest of the elite in the field."
