MonteCarloThe IAAF is proud to present the 2005 Table Calendar which has been produced in a unique association with 200m Olympic bronze medallist Debbie Ferguson, a Goodwill Ambassador for the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.
Ferguson who was appointed an FAO ambassador at the 2002 World Food Day, has dedicated years to improving the health, education and quality of life of people in her country, especially underprivileged women and children. Her charity work includes raising funds for orphanages and Homes for the Aged in Nassau, visiting children at local hospitals and the support of feeding programmes for the elderly.
The 2005 IAAF Calendar features photographs of the Male and Female Athlete of the Year - Kenenisa Bekele and Yelena Isinbayeva - the TDK Golden League Jackpot winners - Tonique Williams-Darling and Christian Olsson - and fellow Olympic medallists Muzuki Noguchi, Liu Xiang, Hicham El Guerrouj, Kelly Holmes and many more.
Additionally it promotes the message “For a World without Hunger” through Ferguson’s statement: “Do you find it shocking that millions of people go hungry every day? You’re not the only one.”
A Bahamian “Golden Girl”, Ferguson anchored the 4x100m relay to gold at the Sydney Olympic Games and won three gold medals (100m, 200m and 4x100m) at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
