The 2016 IAAF World Indoor Tour was officially announced on Monday 7 December and will consist of four competitions which have regularly staged IAAF Indoor Permit meetings in previous years.
The four meetings will all be staged in February 2016 and are:
- Karlsruhe indoor meeting (Karlsruhe, GER), Saturday 6 February
- New Balance Indoor Grand Prix (Boston, USA), Sunday 14 February
- Globen Galan (Stockholm, SWE), Wednesday 17 February
- Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix (Glasgow, GBR), Saturday 20 February
The tour, which will have half of the individual indoor championship disciplines as tour events each year across a two-year period, contains several innovative features, including a points system and prize money.
The individual overall winner of each event will receive US $20,000 in prize money and, beginning with the 2016 edition in Portland, will automatically qualify for the next edition of the IAAF World Indoor Championships as a ‘wild card’ entry*.

*The Member Federation of the World Indoor Tour winner will have the ultimate authority to enter the athlete or not, based on its own domestic standard or qualification system.
L’IAAF lance le circuit mondial en salle
Le circuit mondial en salle 2016 a été officiellement lancé par l’IAAF ce lundi 7 décembre. Il est composé de quatre compétitions accueillies par des villes qui ont régulièrement organisé des meetings « à permis » de l'IAAF au cours des années précédentes.
Les quatre meetings qui auront lieu tous lieu en février 2016, sont les suivants:

Le programme du circuit comprendra la moitié des épreuves individuelles présentes sur les championnats du monde en salle et alternera avec l’autre moitié l’année suivante. Le circuit bénéficiera de plusieurs innovations notamment un système d’attribution de points et une dotation financière.
Le vainqueur de chaque épreuve recevra 20 000 dollars de prime et sera automatiquement qualifié pour la prochaine édition des championnats du monde en salle pour lesquels il recevra une invitation*. Cette disposition sera appliquée dès Portland 2016.

*La Fédération à laquelle appartient le vainqueur du circuit mondial en salle sera l’autorité suprême habilitée à décider d’engager ou non l’athlète, sur la base de ses propres critères nationaux ou de son propre système de qualification interne.
