Technical Committee Member Sigyn Ekwall passes away

It was with great sadness that the IAAF received the news that Sigyn Ekwall of Sweden, a member of the IAAF Technical Committee, had died on Sunday morning (15).

Sigyn Ekwall (SWE), born June 9, 1958, was a member of the International Technical Official (ITO) Panel for the following periods in 2002-2005 and 2006-2009.

She served as an ITO at many IAAF competitions including the 2003 World Athletics Final, Monaco, 2004 World Junior Championships, Grosseto, 2007 World Championships, Osaka and the 2008 World Athletics Final, Stuttgart.

As well as also serving as a technical official at European Athletics competitions, Ekwall was one of the delegates of the Swedish Federation at the 2011 IAAF Congress, Daegu.

The IAAF on behalf of the worldwide athletics family mourns her loss and offers its deepest and sincerest condolences to her family and friends.
