For the fourth time in the history of the IAAF Hammer Throw Challenge, Polish duo Anita Wlodarczyk and Pawel Fajdek topped the end-of-season standings.

The scoring system takes each athlete’s three best marks from the series and equates metres to points. Prize money is awarded to the top 12 finishers at the end of the challenge. The athlete with the highest score wins US $30,000.

For the third year in a row, Wlodarczyk went undefeated for the entire season. Six of her 12 victories this year came in Hammer Throw Challenge meetings and her three best winning marks – 79.72m in Ostrava, 78.00m in Sao Bernardo do Campo and 77.90m at the IAAF World Championships London 2017 – contributed to her overall score.

World silver medallist Wang Zheng placed second overall in the challenge standings with 225.77 and Azerbaijan’s Hanna Skydan was third with 221.75.

Three-time world champion Fajdek broke his own record score in the men’s Hammer Throw Challenge.

His 248.48 tally comprised marks of 83.44m in Ostrava, 82.64m in Szekesfehervar and 82.40m in Turku.

Fajdek’s compatriot Wojciech Nowicki finished second in the challenge standings. The world and Olympic bronze medallist scored 236.32 to finish comfortably ahead of Olympic champion Dilshod Nazarov.

Anita Wlodarczyk et Pawel Fajdek remportent le Challenge du Lancer du Marteau de l’IAAF

Pour la quatrième fois dans l’histoire du Challenge du Lancer du Marteau de l’IAAF, les Polonais Anita Wlodarczyk et Pawel Fajdek ont terminé la saison au sommet des classements féminin et masculin.

Le système de comptabilisation prend en compte les trois meilleurs lancers de la série de chaque athlète et traduit ces distances en points. Des primes en argent reviennent aux douze meilleurs classés au terme du Challenge. L’athlète crédité du score le plus élevé se voit attribuer 30 000 dollars US.

Elle a remporté six de ses douze victoires lors de compétitions du Challenge du Lancer du Marteau, et ses trois meilleurs lancers victorieux - 79,72 m à Ostrava, 78,00 m à Sao Bernardo do Campo et 77,90 m lors des Championnats du Monde de l’IAAF, Londres 2017 – ont contribué à son score final.

La vice-championne du monde chinoise de la discipline, Wang Zheng, a terminé seconde du classement général du Challenge, avec un total de 225,77 points, devant la représentante de l’Azerbaïdjan, Hanna Skydan, troisième avec 221,75.

Chez les hommes, le triple champion du monde Pawel Fajdek a amélioré son propre total record dans le Challenge du Lancer du Marteau.

Son total de 248,48 points se composait de ses performances de 83,44 m à Ostrava, 82,64 m à Székesfehérvár et 82,40 m à Turku.

Compatriote de Fajdek, Wojciech Nowicki a terminé second du Challenge. Le médaillé de bronze mondial et olympique a atteint un score de 236,32, devançant ainsi confortablement le champion olympique, Dilshod Nazarov, troisième.
