2017 IAAF World Championships Evaluation

CarloThe IAAF Evaluation Commission which will carry out the evaluation of the bids of London (GBR) and Doha (QAT) to host the 2017 IAAF World Championships has been formed and their programme decided.

- Cesar Moreno, Honorary Member of the IAAF Council

- Alberto Juantorena, IAAF Council Member, Chairman and representative of the IAAF Athletes’ Commission

- Pierre Weiss, IAAF General Secretary

- Nick Davies, IAAF Communications Director and Deputy IAAF General Secretary

- Paul Hardy, IAAF Competitions Director

- Hiroshi Mochizuki, representing our  Marketing Company, DENTSU

- Nigel Swinscoe, representative of AMS (the servicing company of DENTSU)

- Isabelle Dupuis, PA to IAAF General Secretary


Programme


Sunday 2 October – Arrival London

Tuesday 4 October – Departure London / Arrival Doha

Thursday 6 October – Departure Doha


Evaluation Format


The evaluation tour has a Standard one day and a half format in each city which must include:


•           Visits to the competition and training facilities

•           Visits to hotels which will be used for Athletes Accommodation and IAAF Family

•           Visit to IAAF Congress Venue

•           Meeting with the Bidding Committee to discuss the Bidding Documents and procedures

•           Press Conference


Following the site visits the IAAF Evaluation Team will analyse the capabilities of each contender in a number of areas, based on careful study of the bidding documents and the on-site visits. Amongst the key areas that will be examined are:


•           Stadium and surrounding facilities

•           Support of Public Institutions

•           Athletes Accommodation

•           Accommodation of IAAF Family

•           Broadcasting

•           Marketing and Promotions (Full stadium)

•           Transportation

•           Technical organisation of the competition

•           Anti-doping and Medical

•           IAAF Congress

•           Security

•           Communications and Media Services

•           Innovation

•           Added Value


Decision


The Evaluation Commission delivers its report to the IAAF Council, and following each city’s final presentation to the Council at their meeting in Monaco on Friday 11 November 2011, the successful bidder will be announced.
