The sixth edition of what has now become the traditional winter indoor Governor’s Cup meeting in Krasnodar was held on Sunday (20), and 2011World Championships Long Jump silver medallist Olga Kucherenko provided the highlight when she leapt 7.00m.
In addition to being the first woman to reach that benchmark this year, and adding nine centimetres to her indoor personal best, she also had jumps at 6.92m and 6.89m.
The best men’s performer in Krasnador was 2010 World Junior Championships Pole Vault gold medallist Anton Ivakin, who cleared an indoor personal best of 5.59m, just one centimetre below what he has achieved outdoors.
In the Russian capital, the Moscow U23 Championships saw a number of over-age guests go through their paces.
Well-known Russian international 400m runner Kseniya Zadorina surprised when set a big personal best in the women’s 60m with 7.30 while Darya Klishina won the Long Jump with 6.69m.
Pole vaulter Anzhelika Sidorova improved her best to 4.55m. Aleksandra Bulanova ran the 400m in a personal best of 53.65. Kristina Malviniva wasn’t far behind with 53.69.
The brothers Shabanov dominated the men’s 60m H0urdles. Konstantin, 23, clicked 7.75 in his first meeting of the year. Filip, 21, improved his personal best to 7.98.
In Yaroslavl, 18-year-old Anton Kozlov improved the old national junior 600m record, set 20 years ago, to 1:20.41 while in Volgograd, Yuliya Katzura and Viatcheslav Kolesnichenko got two victories each. Ratzura was the fastest over 60m in 7.39 and 200m in 23.21 while Kolesnichenko was the best at 200m, winning in 21.43, and he also took the 400m in 48.40.
Finally, in Novocheboksarsl, Natalya Peryakova clocked 2:03.41 in the women’s 800m and Yuliya Kostrova cleared 1.91m in High Jump while in the 5000m Race Walk, Irina Umanova won in 21:12.00.
