Turkey’s world youth champion Emel Dereli is second on the 2014 junior list with a 17.93m toss, but she will be challenged by China’s 2011 world youth champion Guo Tianqian, who has reached 18.08m this season.
China won four successive world junior titles in the women’s shot between 1990 and 1996, but haven’t won any since then, so Guo will aim to end that drought.
Guo has six of the top eight marks in 2014 and Dereli the other two; next is USA’s Raven Saunders at 17.28m.
