Kabirou Dan Malan succeeds Abdel Karim in Dakar

On Saturday (17) Nigeria’s Kabirou Dan Malan won the 7th edition of the Dakar Half Marathon, Dakar, Senegal in 1:08:56.

Abdoulaye Abdel Karim from Chad, the defending champion, finished in third place (1:11:10 ), with the runners-up position taken by Senegalese serviceman Sheikh Ndiaye (1:10:37).

This trio of runners broke away early on in the race with Karim eventually cracking under the pressure of Malan and Ndiaye.

Nearly a thousand participants including runners from Gambia, Mali, Sierra Leone, Niger and Chad took part.
