Oslo, NorwayUS sprint sensation Carmelita Jeter will look to extend her competitive range when she contests the 200m at the EXXON Mobil Bislett Games – IAAF Diamond League in Oslo on Friday 4 June.

Meet director Steinar Hoen, confirmed Jeter after he discovered that continuing injury would prevent IAAF Diamond League Ambassador Sanya Richards from  competing in Oslo.

Since last year’s Berlin Championships when Jeter took the bronze behind Shelly-Ann Fraser and Kerron Stewart, she has retained an unbroken win streak at 100m of 10 races, 6 at the tail end of 2009 and 4 already this season, and her winning time of 10.64sec in Shanghai on 20 September 2009 made here the second fastest woman of all-time.

“Carmelita raised the bar really, really high at the end of last year, and I for one am really happy that she did,” said World and Olympic champion Fraser who is an IAAF Diamond League Ambassador, before their latest encounter on 23 May, also in Shanghai, when Jeter triumphed 11.09 to 11.29sec (-0.1m/s) in coolish weather conditions.

Jeter race structure is very exciting for spectators especially when her patented mid-race acceleration kicks in & she storms away from the opposition. Although not as familiar with the 200m (she has a best of 22.47 from 2008), the quality of her personal best in the 100m, should still expect to open up a sizeable lead at some stage of the event.
