| A final with a very interesting development, as the American C.J. Hunter won the gold medal in his last attempt with a throw of 21.79, bettering his personal best with a huge margin of 35 centimetres. The leader before the final round was the German Oliver-Sven Buder, who led the final from his first attempt. He improved this mark twice ending with 21.42 metres which he reached in the fourth round. The bronze went to Ukranian Alexandr Bagach, world champion indoor in Maebashi. He was the third man over 21 metres, completing a high standard podium. The world champion in Athens, the American John Godina, had a very irregular competition with five fouls and a sole valid attempt of 20.35, that left him in seventh place. |

Una final de desarrollo muy emocionante, con el
norteamericano C.J. Hunter consiguiendo la medalla de oro en el ultimo intento con un
lanzamiento de 21,79, mejorando en 35 centimetros su marca personal. El gran dominador
antes de la ronda decisiva era el aleman Oliver-Sven Buder, que encabezo la ronda desde
las primeras tentativas y fue mejorando hasta los 21,42 metros que lanzo en la cuarta
ronda. El bronce fue para el ucraniano Alexandr Bagach, campeon mundial de pista cubierta
en Maebashi, que fue el tercer hombre por encima de los 21 metros completando un podium de
magnifico nivel. El campeon del mundo en Atenas, el norteamericano John Godina, realizo un
concurso muy irregular con cinco nulos y un unico intento valido de 20,35 con el que solo
pudo alcanzar la septima plaza.    |
