Back from her recent visit to Australia, Olympic Discus Throw champion Stephanie Brown-Trafton is looking forward to several high profile appearances in the USA.

March started off with a meet in Melbourne and a trip to Tasmania to visit family.  I'm so glad I got the chance to visit Australia and the beautiful state of Tasmania.  It is a wonderful blend of small sea-loving community and hundreds of miles of picturesque farmland.

I hosted a clinic for about 15 youth throwers in Hobart, many who have great potential for a future of success in the sport.  I spent time with my family and explored the great beauty that was within driving distance.

Then back home on the 20 hour plane ride to sunny warm weather of California.  I was fortunate to get awesome training in while in Australia and I want to continue on with my training in preparation for the US season that lies ahead.

The meet organizers for the Reebok Classic and Prefontine meet added the women's discus into their event lineup and we are excited to be able to compete in major meets on our home soil.  I hope we can attract some overseas talent as well so we have a strong international field and we can put on a great meet for the home crowd.

I have finalized my competition schedule and baring a few minor changes I have a great chance to top the American record this year especially in the great winds of Salinas.  There we will have some opportunities to see a world record performance by Gerd Kanter at the meetings in May and maybe even a 68 meter throw from the women competitors too!
