USA’s 2015 world leader Jeffrey Henderson and Australia’s world silver medallist Fabrice Lapierre will face a quartet of home-grown talent in the long jump at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Shanghai on 14 May.
“It was my experience that helped me to stay calm and jump 8.25m in the third round and stay in the competition,” Fabrice Lapierre said about his performance at the IAAF World Indoor Championships Portland 2016.
Fabrice Lapierre said he felt a little rusty on the runway at the Australian Championships in Sydney, but the world silver medallist took only one jump to iron out any kinks.
Eight athletes will represent Australia at the IAAF World Indoor Championships Portland 2016 on 17-20 March.
Four medallists from last year’s IAAF World Championships will compete in the long jump at the Globen Galan, part of the IAAF World Indoor Tour, in Stockholm on 17 February.
For the partisan crowd that had filled the Bird’s Nest Stadium, the men’s long jump – with three Chinese finalists – was the highlight of the evening.
