Three meeting record-holders have been announced for the Czech Indoor Gala, part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold, taking place in Ostrava on 4 February.

Poland’s Ewa Swoboda ran a record 7.07 to win the 60m in Ostrava last year before becoming a world indoor silver medallist in Glasgow. She will defend her Czech Indoor Gala crown against a field featuring Luxembourg's Patrizia van der Weken, who was second last year, plus Australia’s world U20 200m silver medallist Torrie Lewis, who will be contesting her debut indoor season, and home favourite Karolina Manasova.

Ethiopia’s world indoor 1500m champion Freweyni Hailu dominated the mile race at last year's Czech Indoor Gala and set a meeting record of 4:17.36. She also returns and this time her competition will include her compatriot Sembo Almayew, the world U20 3000m steeplechase champion and winner of the Women’s Rising Star award at the 2024 World Athletics Awards.

Kazakhstan’s Norah Jeruto, the 2022 world 3000m steeplechase champion, will also be in action.

Portugal’s Isaac Nader won the 1500m in a meeting and national record of 3:34.23 during last year’s event and this time he has set his sights on the mile.

Great Britain’s Elliot Giles, who won the 1500m in Ostrava in 2022, will be among his rivals.
