Olympic silver medallist Allyson Felix takes us through her numerous activities and how she enjoys time off the track back home in Los Angeles.

“Greetings

“My feelings haven't really changed about my experience at the Olympics. I'm still disappointed with the way everything turned out but I have been able to put it into perspective.

“I think 2009 will be a very different year for me. I have to wait four more years to accomplish my ultimate goal so in the meantime I'm exploring what my focus will be until then.

“I'm seriously considering concentrating on the longer sprints this year but I have not made any final decisions.

“I am taking a break from training and will start again in early November. The time is going fast but I do feel like I'm beginning to get in the mindset of preparing for next year.

“But first I am planning to go to Jamaica for vacation. I'm hoping some of that speed rubs off on me. LOL

“I got some great suggestions from the readers for places all around the world and I think that I'll have to use some of those ideas in the future as well.

“Since I haven't been training I've been spending time catching up with friends and family at home.

“I've also been attending different events locally (in Los Angeles), which has been great to get in touch with my community.

“I am an ambassador for the Children's Miracle Network. They are an amazing organization that raises money to operate children's hospitals all around the country.

“I am so proud to be a part of such a great cause. My job is to visit different hospitals around the country, visit with these amazing kids, raise awareness about the network and represent the children.

“I was also involved with a 5km race at Magic Mountain, which was another great cause. It raised money for the senior center here in my hometown of Santa Clarita that provides a service that delivers meals to the elderly.

“I encouraged all the runners there and also gave out medals. I have experienced the blessing of seniors in my own life. My grandfather is 99 years old and I have two grandmothers who are 89. They have been a tremendous blessing in my own life.

“Last Saturday (4 Oct), I was honoured at the halftime of a USC football game with other Beijing Olympians from the school.

“It was such an honour for me to be alongside all of the other Olympians. I really enjoyed my experience at USC and am so proud to be part of such a rich tradition.

“My high school L.A. Baptist recently named the stadium after me. They recently replaced their dirt track with an all-weather one and a synthetic field.

“I go back to LAB occasionally to speak at their chapel. It was something that I definitely was not expecting at all but I am very grateful.

“That’s all for now. Thanks for reading.’’
