Global gold medallists Faith Kipyegon and Tsige Duguma were among the winners at the Athlos NYC, this year’s final World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting, in New York on Thursday (26).
The new all-women meeting, held at the Icahn Stadium, featured six elite events – the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and 100m hurdles – with prize money of $60,000 up for grabs for each winner.
Kenya’s Kipyegon, who won her third Olympic 1500m title in Paris and improved the world record to 3:49.04 this season, maintained her win streak, claiming victory in New York in 4:04.79 after a tactical race.
Running a final lap of 58.45, she kicked away from Ethiopia’s world road mile champion Diribe Welteji, who was second in 4:05.58.

Duguma, who became the world indoor 800m champion in Glasgow in March, also ended her year on a high as she won the 800m by more than half a second.
The 23-year-old, who claimed Olympic silver in Paris, ran 1:57.43 for the third-fastest time of her career to beat world champion Mary Moraa of Kenya, who clocked 1:58.05.
The final race of the meeting was the 200m, won by Olympic bronze medallist Brittany Brown. She pipped her compatriot Gabby Thomas, the Olympic champion, 22.18 to 22.21 (0.7m/s).
Brown had earlier finished second in the 100m, running 11.05 in a race won by Cote d'Ivoire’s Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith in 10.98 (0.1m/s).
Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn won the 100m hurdles in 12.36 (0.6m/s) ahead of USA’s Alaysha Johnson and Olympic champion Masai Russell.
In the 400m, Dominican Republic’s Olympic and world champion Marileidy Paulino triumphed again, clocking 49.59 ahead of Alexis Holmes (49.99).
