Norwegian junior record-holder Sven Martin Skagestad leads the charge with a world-leading 65.66m. He is looking to become the third Norwegian to claim the highest place on the podium in the history of the IAAF World Junior Championships and the first man in 20 years.
Martin Markovic, who has thrown 65.35m this year, also wants to give Croatia its first global junior crown in eight years.
Australia’s world youth champion Matt Denny is looking to repeat the same success at Hayward Field after his area record of 63.66m. Germany’s double world youth silver medallist Henning Prufer will once again be doubling up in the shot and discus and will be a medal contender in both.
