Now 48 years old, Tim Hutchings has been involved with International Athletics for the last 30 years, having run for the Great Britain team from 1978-1990. Fourth in the 1984 Olympic 5000m, he twice took silver in the IAAF World Cross Country Championships (84 & 89) and earned a number of medals at Commonwealth and European level. Subsequently, Tim has commentated on every major championships (Olympics, World & European) since 1991, worked on the elite field for the Flora London Marathon since 1992 and was Athletics Consultant to Reebok UK from 1991 to 2003. He has also coached middle-distance athletes to Olympic level. Of his perspective on working in Television, he says, “As a former distance runner, I understand the sacrifices that elite athletes in all disciplines make in order to realise their full potential. I try to bring this same commitment to my commentaries, while at the same time helping to make the programme energised, informative and fun for the viewer.” |
