| "Before the competition I called home and they said that Mutola had said in a newspaper that there is a Czeck which could make a surprise. I replied: 'Hopefully she will remember my name after the final'. Really, I came here just hoping for a medal. I thought the gold would be a fight between Mutola and Masterkova. At the final back straight I was badly boxed. I just thought that the fourth place is worst possible and tried to get out there. I had to go around wide to be able to sprint and I thought I lost too much time doing that. I didn't even realize that I have won until the crowd made it clear to me. In the training I have been concentrating on the sprint of last 50 or 60 meters. I'm glad the hard work paid off." |

| "I feared Masterkova, not Formanova and I must admit I was not aware that she was even close to us in the final 100 metres. Her win was a great surprise to me and obviously I'm disappointed. However, I did everything I could and so I can't complain about my race, I was just beaten by someone faster on the day". |

| "Antes de la carrera llame a casa y me dijeron que Mutola habia declarado en un periodico que habia una checa que podria dar la sorpresa. Yo conteste: 'espero que recuerde mi nombre despues de la final'. De verdad, vine aqui solamente a luchar por una medalla. Pense que el oro se lo disputarian Mutola y Masterkova. En la penultima recta estaba mal colocada. Solamente pensaba que el cuarto puesto era el peor y trate de salir de alli. Tuve que abrirme para esprintar y crei que habia perdido mucho tiempo haciendo eso. Ni siquiera me di cuenta que habia ganado hasta que el publico me lo hizo ver". |
