The IAAF’s 18month legal battle with Dieter Baumann is over
14 May 2002 – Monte Carlo - The German athlete Dieter Baumann has decided not to appeal against the decision of the Stuttgart Regional Court which held in April of this year that the 2-year ban imposed on him by the IAAF Arbitration Panel for a doping offence in September 2000 was legally valid and that he had no claim for damages against the IAAF arising from such ban.
The judgment of the Stuttgart Court therefore stands in the IAAF’s favour and the matter is now closed.
Dieter Baumann completed his 2-year ban in January 2002 and resumed competition later the same month.
