Anier Garcia led every step of the way to crush a great hurdles field and win the Olympic 110-metre hurdles gold medal Monday night. The 24-year-old Cuban flashed across the finish line in 13 seconds flat, nearly two metres clear of 21-year-old Terrence Trammell of the United States, who took the silver in 13.16. Behind them were the old guard -- 33-year-old Mark Crear, third in 13.22, 29-year-old defending Olympic champion Allen Johnson, fourth in 13.23, and 33-year-old world record holder Colin Jackson, fifth in 13.28. The Cuban's quick early pace put the pressure on the rest of the field, and he gave them no openings, made no mistakes.
