The current IAAF World Rankings overall women’s leader Tatyana Lebedeva from Russia will start her outdoor season in the premier Czech sporting event of the year – the IAAF Super Grand Prix Meeting Golden Spike in Ostrava on June 8.

Fresh from her Long Jump and Triple Jump double at the recent World Indoor championships in Budapest, she has confirmed she will attempt both events at the Olympic Games in both events.

"But she is obviously stronger in Triple Jump. I think she will be ready to attack the outdoor World record in the triple (15.50, Inessa Kravets, 1995),“ said her agent Aivar Karotamm. Lebedeva equalled and then twice broke the World indoor record in Budapest (15.16 in round 1, 15.25 in round 2 and 15.36 in round 6).

The mother of a one and half year old daughter Nastya, is currently in hard training for the summer under the guidance of coach Dogonkin. According to her agent she will compete before Athens in seven competitions, trying to find some balance between the Long and Triple jump.

She also has the goal of trying to qualify for World Athletics Final in both events, in order to save her number one overall ranking position.

In the Ostrava field, she will face her ultimate rival Yamile Aldama, the Cuban who is now representing Sudan and was silver medal winner in Budapest (14.90 was new African indoor record). Aldama (31 years old) has good memories for Ostrava, she jumped there last year for the first time in her career 15 metres, what is of course the current meeting record.
