IOC and IAAF Presidents meet in Monte-Carlo

MonteCarloInternational Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge made his first ever visit to the headquarters of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) in Monte-Carlo yesterday (4), and held an informal meeting with IAAF President Lamine Diack.

President Rogge, who was in Monaco for the opening of the 12th Games of the Small States of Europe which take place in the Principality from 4 to 9 June 2007, was accompanied on his visit to Villa Miraflores to meet President Diack and IAAF General Secretary Pierre Weiss, by Olympic Games Executive Director Gilbert Felli.

At the meeting the two presidents discussed a number of topics including the Youth Olympics, arrangements for the traditional meeting between the IAAF Council and the IOC Executive Board which will take place on the day prior to the start of the IAAF World Championships in Athletics, Osaka, Japan (25 Aug – 2 Sep), and also general preparations for next year’s Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
