Organisers of the Copernicus Cup have announced that the winners of the past three world indoor 400m titles will clash at the IAAF World Indoor Tour meeting in Torun on 10 February.
Czech Republic’s Pavel Maslak, winner of the 2014 and 2016 world indoor 400m title, will take on Costa Rica’s 2012 world indoor 400m champion Nery Brenes over two laps of the track.
They will be joined by 2012 Olympic silver medallist Luguelin Santos, Grenada’s Olympic finalist Bralon Taplin, whose 45.20 clocking last year was the fastest time of the 2016 indoor season, and USA’s world and Olympic 4x400m champion Kyle Clemons.
Poland’s European indoor bronze medallist Rafal Omelko is also in the field, alongside fellow European indoor 4x400m silver medallists Lukasz Krawczuk and Jakub Krzewina.
Torun’s triple jump field is of a similar high quality as four global medallists will line up alongside two continental champions.
Venezuela’s world indoor champion and Olympic silver medallist Yulimar Rojas leads the entries. She will take on 2011 world champion Olga Saladukha, world indoor silver medallist Kristin Gierisch of Germany, world silver medallist Hanna Knyazyeva-Minenko, European champion Patricia Mamona, African champion Nadia Eke and Polish champion Anna Jagaciak.
