The IAAF World Indoor Tour gets underway in Boston on Saturday (28) and organisers of the opening fixture have announced a loaded field for one of the most hotly contested 3000m races in the 22-year history of the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

World indoor 1500m champion Sifan Hassan holds Dutch records at 1500m (3:56.05), the mile (4:18.20) and 3000m (8:29.38). In 2015 she won the European indoor 1500m title and took the bronze medal at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing.

In Boston she will take on Olympic 5000m silver medallist and 2012 world indoor 3000m champion Hellen Obiri, world indoor 1500m silver medallist Dawit Seyaum and 2009 world 1500m bronze medallist Shannon Rowbury.

Meanwhile, teenage super talent Sydney McLaughlin has been added to the US all-star distance medley relay team. The world U18 champion competed in the 400m hurdles at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, having broken the world U20 record with 54.15 at the US Olympic Trials.

In Boston she will team up with Olympic bronze medallists Jenny Simpson and Emma Coburn and 2013 world 800m bronze medallist Brenda Martinez and they will have their sights set on the world record of 10:42.57.

In the 800m, world champion Maryna Arzamasova of Belarus will line up against world U20 champion Sammy Watson of the USA.
