Synthetic EPDM rubber athletics tracks are gaining popularity in schools, clubs, recreation centers, and other organizations across the world. As athletics has grown in popularity, more people are participating in a variety of events, resulting in a growing demand for high-quality athletics tracks and facilities developed by skilled and dependable contractors. A typical 400m running track placed at a school, athletics club, or leisure complex, for example, has 8 lanes, each ranging in width from 1.22m to 1.25m. The dimensions of these sports track facilities, on the other hand, might vary depending on individual specifications and designs, which can be modified to meet whatever needs are required. Track and field athletics facilities are typically utilized for everyday training as well as hosting regional or local contests. Higher-level events usually necessitate more extensive requirements for the sporting facility, notably in terms of infrastructure. In general, athletics tracks are multipurpose, with the 400m track's inside serving as a soccer, gridiron, and rugby ground. Non-sporting events such as concerts and public gatherings are also held on these tracks. The IAAF Track and Field Facilities Manual 2008 (the Manual) specifies dimensions and equipment for elite athletes competing in international and other high-level competitions.

The 400m Standard Track (the Track) includes about equal length straight and curved parts, as well as uniform bends, which are best suited to athletes' running rhythms. In addition, the track's inside space is large enough to accommodate all throwing events as well as a regular football (soccer) surface (68m x 105m). Two semicircles, each with a radius of 36.50m, are connected by two straights, each measuring 84.39m in length. The track contains eight, six, or four lanes on occasion, but only the last is utilized for international running competitions. The width of all lanes is 1.22m + 0.01m. The most important criteria for all start lines, whether straight, staggered, or curved, is that each athlete's distance is the same, and not less than the allowed distance with no negative tolerance, when taking the shortest authorized route. At the start of races of fewer than 800 meters, each racer has their own lane. Up to and including 400m races are held fully in lanes. 800m races begin in lanes and continue until the first turn is reached. A breakline across the track marks the exit from the first turn, indicating when the athletes are free to leave their lanes. Small cones or prisms, no more than 0.15m high, are put on the lane lines right before the intersection of each lane to assist athletes in identifying the breakline. Over 800m races have a curved start line instead of lanes.
