Although she’s had to postpone yet again her season debut, World Athlete of the Year Sanya Richards remains confident and looks forward to competing at the IAAF Golden League series.

On her recent training:

“My training has been going exceptionally well. Coach Hart and I keep records of all my workouts and I am running a lot faster in practice now than I did last year. We've also simulated races in practice and I am exactly where I want to be to open up sub 50.”

On travel obligations and their impact on training (Richards was in Zurich last week for a Weltklasse and Golden League press conference):

“Traveling to Zurich was very easy, much easier than I anticipated. The trip was so short I had no time to get jet-lagged. In my short trip I did a press conference, saw the new stadium, did a workout, and got a massage. It was a long day but I was so happy to see the new stadium. Zurich is one of my favorite places to run and to see how hard they are working to have a world class facility, with one of the fastest tracks in the world, was really amazing. The stadium is going to be outstanding!”

“Traveling to Zurich didn't hurt my training week at all. When I got to Zurich on Monday I fulfilled all my obligations, took a short nap, and headed to the track. I was surprised with how well my workout went. I thought I would have been tired from the long trip but I felt really good and had a great workout. When I got back I missed Tuesday because the flight got in really late, but I headed to Waco on Wednesday and had one of my best "overdistance" workouts ever. The travel didn't interrupt my workouts at all. I've had one of my best weeks of training to date.”

On doubling at the US Championships and at the World Championships:

“I will definitely run the 200/400 double at US Nationals. I really want to do the double at the World Championships this year. Unfortunately the way the schedule is now, I would have to run two rounds of the 200 the same day as the 400m final. That would be out of the question! However it is not unprecedented that one of the four rounds of the 200 is canceled, so if that happens, Coach Hart is open to me running the first round of the 200 early that morning and the 400 final in the evening. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!”
