Home pole vault star Piotr Lisek will take on Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen and Emmanouil Karalis of Greece when they clash at the ORLEN Copernicus Cup, the fourth World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting of 2024, in Torun, Poland, on 6 February.

The trio will renew their rivalry after each claiming a medal at the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul in March. Guttormsen got gold on that occasion while Lisek and Karalis claimed joint silver and now they will each be looking to make their mark as they compete again at the Torun Arena.

Lisek is a five-time global medallist, having claimed two world medals outdoors and two indoors. His PB stands at 6.02m, achieved in 2019.

Guttormsen, a three-time NCAA champion, managed six metres for the first time in March, with that 6.00m clearance getting him a second NCAA indoor title in Albuquerque.

Karalis is the Greek record-holder with his best of 5.86m and he finished fourth at the Olympics in Tokyo.

A total of 60 meetings currently feature on the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Tour calendar, including seven Gold level events, in a season that culminates with the World Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 24.

Other athletes already confirmed for next year’s Tour include world gold medallists Noah Lyles, Jake Wightman and Gabby Thomas, who will race in Boston on 4 February, and world champions Mondo Duplantis and Gudaf Tsegay, who will compete in Astana on 27 January.
