Many medal winners from the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 will clash once again when Wanda Diamond League action resumes at the Silesia Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Poland on 6 August.

In total, organisers have announced that 49 World Championships medallists from Oregon, including 19 champions, have been confirmed for the meeting, taking place at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzow.

Among them are USA’s Michael Norman and Grenada’s Kirani James – the respective men’s gold and silver 400m medallists in Oregon – who will again go head-to-head over one lap of the track, while women’s world 400m winner Shaunae Miller-Uibo of The Bahamas will drop down to the 200m and take on the world champion at that distance, Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson.

Jackson also secured 100m silver in Oregon in a race won by her compatriot Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and the now five-time world 100m champion will contest that distance again, in a field also featuring home favourite Ewa Swoboda. The men’s 100m will star a US clash between world champion Fred Kerley and bronze medallist Trayvon Bromell.

USA’s world record-holder Ryan Crouser claimed his first world shot put title in Oregon, beating his compatriot Joe Kovacs, the 2015 and 2019 world gold medallist. Kovacs will aim for revenge in Silesia, as will Olympic champion Wojciech Nowicki in the men’s hammer, as he had to settle for world silver behind his fellow Polish throws star Pawel Fajdek in Oregon.

Back on the track, Brazil’s Alison Dos Santos is among the entries - fresh from his 400m hurdles world title win, while Dominican Republic’s world 400m silver medallist Marileidy Paulino, who also formed part of the winning mixed 4x400m team, also returns to action in Poland.

Sweden’s pole vault star Mondo Duplantis is among the athletes to have already been announced for the meeting, at which he will now compete with a PB of 6.21m to his name, having broken the world record yet again to win his first world title just two days ago.
