Organisers of the Bislett Games have confirmed that Olympic champions Yulimar Rojas and Andre De Grasse will compete at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Oslo on 15 June.
Rojas, the world champion and world record-holder, has dominated the triple jump in recent years. The last time someone jumped farther than the Venezuelan in a triple jump competition was August 2019.
In Oslo Rojas will be reunited with the other podium finishers from last year’s World Championships: silver medallist Shanieka Ricketts and bronze medallist Tori Franklin. European champion Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk and USA’s Keturah Orji are also in the line-up.
It will be Rojas’s first Wanda Diamond League competition of 2023, and the first time she has competed in the Norwegian capital.
De Grasse, meanwhile, is no stranger to the Bislett Games. The Canadian sprinter has won in Oslo four times over the past seven years. After winning the 100m at the Bislett Stadium last year, this time De Grasse will race over 200m – the distance at which he is the Olympic champion – and will go up against the likes of USA's world bronze medallist Erriyon Knighton, and world and Olympic silver medallist Kenny Bednarek.
More leading athletes have been added to the men’s 400m, following the announcement that world record-holder Wayde van Niekerk will be competing in Oslo. The 2016 Olympic champion will take on 2012 Olympic champion Kirani James, European champion Matt Hudson-Smith and world leader Muzala Samukonga.
