Mondo Duplantis cleared 6.21m to win a historic pole vault contest against Emmanouil Karalis who soared 6.16m during the Wanda Diamond League city event in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Thursday (20).
Sweden&rsquo;s Duplantis improved his own meeting record of 6.15m and had no failures on his way to his latest record-breaking performance, but Greece&rsquo;s Karalis offered him a strong challenge as he managed 6.16m &ndash; the second-best clearance of his career behind the 6.17m that places him second on the world all-time list behind Duplantis.
Only Duplantis himself has ever gone higher than his 6.21m in Lausanne and the two-time Olympic champion went on to attempt 6.32m &ndash; a mark that would have added another centimetre to his world record set in Uppsala in March &ndash; but he decided to call it a day after two tries at that height.
"I'm tired! But I feel really good, I feel really happy," said Duplantis. "That was such an amazing competition, everybody jumped so well, so I felt like I really had to step it up. I'm glad I jumped really well.
"That&rsquo;s competition, that&rsquo;s what we live for. I love to compete, I love competing against Manolo, especially when he is on his A-game like this. I just like to jump high. That's what I feel like I was made to do."
Competing in the city event held on the shores of Lake Geneva on the eve of the main Athletissima meeting, Duplantis and Karalis were still locked in battle as the bar reached 6.01m &ndash; both athletes having perfect scorecards up to that height. They both then passed at 6.11m.
Karalis, the world silver and Olympic bronze medallist, failed his first attempt at 6.16m and Duplantis soared into the lead as he managed it on his first try, adding a centimetre to his own meeting record from 2024. But Karalis responded by matching that new meeting record on his second attempt, clearing a height that only three athletes in history &ndash; Duplantis, Karalis and former world record-holder Renaud Lavillenie &ndash; have ever managed.
The bar went up to 6.21m, which Duplantis again cleared first time. Karalis had two attempts at that height before saving his last attempt for 6.26m and Duplantis was confirmed the winner when that was unsuccessful. Duplantis then had two attempts at 6.32m.
The epic pole vault competition saw three other athletes clear 5.91m &ndash; Kurtis Marschall finishing third, Sondre Guttormsen fourth and Chris Nilsen fifth on countback.
"It's been amazing. I always love competing here," said Karalis, who added 10 centimetres to the previous best ever non-winning mark. "Everyone jumped very well. It's always nice to put on a good show."
<h2>Werro and Benjamin set meeting records in stadium</h2>
Home star Audrey Werro was among the meeting record-breakers as attention turned to the main Athletissima meeting at the Pontaise Olympic Stadium on Friday (21).
The Swiss 22-year-old, who won the Diamond League title in Z&uuml;rich last year, controlled the 800m race but faced a strong late surge by Femke Broeders-Bol. Werro won in 1:55.33 ahead of Broeders-Bol in 1:55.41, the latter a Dutch record that improved the 1:55.54 achieved by Ellen van Langen when winning the Olympic title in Barcelona in 1992 &ndash; a time that Broeders-Bol matched when finishing third at the recent European Championships behind Werro.
Werro stayed a few strides back as the pacemaker went off hard, passing halfway in 55.3. Ethiopia&rsquo;s Saida Tsehaye moved up between Werro and Broeders-Bol but Broeders-Bol charged down the home straight, almost catching Werro at the line. Tsehaye was third in a PB of 1:56.92. Werro and&nbsp;Broeders-Bol next meet at the Diamond League meeting in&nbsp;Z&uuml;rich, where they will be joined in a stacked field by Keely Hodgkinson, Georgia Hunter Bell and Lilian Odira.

Olympic and world champion Rai Benjamin returned to the 400m hurdles like he had never left, winning the non-Diamond League race in 46.67 &ndash; the fourth-fastest time of the season &ndash; to break a meeting record set by Edwin Moses in 1981. Benjamin turns his attention back to the 400m flat &ndash; his focus for the season so far &ndash; in Silesia on Sunday.
USA&rsquo;s Olympic champion Masai Russell maintained her win streak in the 100m hurdles, backing up her Diamond League victories in Monaco, Eugene, Xiamen and Shaoxing/Keqiao with another meeting record-breaking performance. She clocked 12.27 this time to beat Nadine Visser (12.42) and Alaysha Johnson (12.49).
Another meeting record fell in the 3000m steeplechase as Olympic champion Winfred Yavi ran a well-judged race, clocking 9:00.04 to easily hold off world champion Faith Cherotich who secured second place in 9:01.90. Marwa Bouzayani was third in 9:05.55.
<h2>Wanyonyi wins 800m battle</h2>
Kenya&rsquo;s Olympic and world champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi won his first Diamond League 800m of the year, chasing down the fast-starting Marco Arop and holding off the fast-finishing Djamel Sedjati to triumph in 1:42.19.
Canada&rsquo;s world leader and 2023 world champion Arop set off with intent, following the pacemaker as the 400-metre mark was reached in 48.86. Arop took over as the pacer stepped aside but he couldn&rsquo;t hold on and was passed by Wanyonyi, Brandon Miller and Sedjati down the home straight. Wanyonyi followed his world 1000m record in Monaco to get a second Diamond League win of the year, followed by Sedjati in 1:42.31, Miller in 1:42.55 and Arop in 1:43.18.
Emma Zapletalov&aacute; strode to her fifth Diamond League 400m hurdles win of the year, clocking 52.41 for the second-fastest time in the world this season behind her own world lead of 52.30 set in Doha. Anna Cockrell was second in 53.15 and Paulien Couckuyt was third in a Belgian record of 53.28.
Botswana&rsquo;s Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo showed his strength in the final Diamond League track event of the evening, winning the 200m in 19.87 (-0.3m/s) ahead of Sinesipho Dambile (19.98).
There was a career-first Diamond League win for USA&rsquo;s Kayla White in the women&rsquo;s 200m. The world 4x100m champion finished clear ahead of world silver medallist Amy Hunt and Olympic finalist Favour Ofili, clocking 22.18 (0.3m/s) to their shared time of 22.32. There was disappointment for two-time world 200m champion Shericka Jackson as she pulled up off the bend and finished her race laid on the track.
The 110m hurdles was not a Diamond discipline but USA&rsquo;s Jamal Britt still put on a show, winning in 13.13 (-0.5m/s) ahead of Kendry L. Men&eacute;ndez in 13.20. World record-holder Ja'Kobe Tharp hit a barrier and jogged over the finish line in eighth.
Bahrain&rsquo;s Birhanu Balew kicked to victory in the 5000m, leading the top six under 13 minutes to win in 12:57.55 &ndash; his fourth consecutive race under that 13-minute barrier. Parker Wolfe was second in 12:58.20 and Nico Young was third in 12:58.33.
<h2>Pathirage pips Chopra in javelin clash</h2>
Sri Lanka&rsquo;s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage and India&rsquo;s Neeraj Chopra both surpassed 88 metres in the javelin, world leader Pathirage winning with his third-round 88.14m to beat Chopra&rsquo;s season&rsquo;s best of 88.05m from the second round.
Japan&rsquo;s Olympic champion Haruka Kitaguchi clinched her first Diamond League win of the year in the women&rsquo;s event, throwing a season&rsquo;s best of 64.90m to beat Flor Denis Ruiz Hurtado with 64.29m.
USA&rsquo;s 2022 world U20 champion Hana Moll denied two-time world indoor medallist Angelica Moser a pole vault win on home soil, soaring 4.84m on her final attempt to get her first Diamond League triumph ahead of Moser who managed 4.74m. Olympic champion Nina Kennedy warmed up in Lausanne but withdrew ahead of the competition.
Olympic champion Milti&aacute;dis Tent&oacute;glou beat another home favourite in the long jump, leaping a wind-aided 8.24m (2.1m/s) to secure top spot ahead of Simon Ehammer with a best of 8.13m.
Pedro Pichardo won the triple jump by a single centimetre. The world champion soared 17.44m into a headwind in the second round and that remained enough to win &ndash; just &ndash; as Yasser Mohammed Triki responded with a wind-assisted 17.43m (2.7m/s) in the final round. Andy D&iacute;az Hern&aacute;ndez, who jumped 18.15m to beat Pichardo at the recent European Championships, was third this time with a 17.20m leap.

Duplantis clears 6.21m, Karalis 6.16m in historic pole vault contest in Lausanne

Julien Alfred meeting Melissa Jefferson-Wooden in the 100m, Karsten Warholm racing Alison dos Santos in the 400m hurdles, and Nicola Olyslagers facing Yaroslava Mahuchikh in the high jump are among the many top-class clashes expected at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Silesia on Sunday (23).
Numerous world record-holders are in action at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial, Warholm and Mahuchikh joined by Mondo Duplantis, Ja'Kobe Tharp and Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who returns to Diamond League action for the first time in almost two years.
With places at the Diamond League Final in Brussels on the line, and spots at the inaugural Ultimate Championship up for grabs for the winners of those events in Brussels, athletes will want to make their mark when they return to the Silesian Stadium.
The women&rsquo;s 100m stars the Olympic champion against the world champion as Alfred and Jefferson-Wooden clash over the distance for the first time since last year&rsquo;s world final.
Saint Lucia&rsquo;s Olympic champion Alfred is unbeaten this season, while USA&rsquo;s treble 2025 world champion Jefferson-Wooden has lost only once &ndash; to Alfred over 200m in Rome. Jefferson-Wooden won last year in Silesia, equalling the meeting record of 10.66.
But it may not be just a two-way battle as they form part of a formidable field along with 2023 world champion Sha'Carri Richardson, two-time world 200m champion Shericka Jackson, world silver medallist Tina Clayton, last year&rsquo;s runner-up Tia Clayton and home favourite Ewa Swoboda.
The men&rsquo;s race also features the world champion as Jamaica&rsquo;s Oblique Seville goes for his second Diamond League win of the season. He was second to Nigeria&rsquo;s Kayinsola Ajayi in both London and Eugene and Ajayi is also among the entries for an event that features heats before the final. They will be joined by the in-form Emmanuel Eseme, Akani Simbine, Jordan Anthony and Kenny Bednarek.
With Olympic and world 400m hurdles champion Rai Benjamin racing the flat 400m in Silesia, up against world champion Collen Kebinatshipi, the hurdles offers another head-to-head battle between Norway&rsquo;s world record-holder Warholm and Brazil&rsquo;s 2022 world champion Dos Santos. Dos Santos is the world leader with 46.48 and has beaten Warholm in their three clashes so far this season but Warholm won in London in 46.61. In the 400m, Kebinatshipi will be looking to put down another strong marker after his Diamond League records in Paris and Monaco, 43.44 at the latter.
Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino leads the entries for the women&rsquo;s 400m in which she will face home star Natalia Bukowiecka. Paulino is unbeaten this year, her wins including at the Diamond League meetings in Doha, Monaco, London and Paris &ndash; the latter in a Diamond League record and world lead of 48.48.
Tharp, who improved the world record to 12.75 in Eugene in June, stars in the 110m hurdles against world champion Cordell Tinch and their US compatriots Jamal Britt and Trey Cunningham. The 100m hurdles is not a Diamond discipline but it still offers a strong field as home favourite Pia Skrzyszowska races Alaysha Johnson, Danielle Williams and Megan Simmonds.
<h2>Ingebrigtsen back at scene of world record</h2>
Norway&rsquo;s two-time Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen heads back to the track on which he broke the world 3000m record in 2024, returning to Diamond League competition for the first time since September of that year following injury.
He contests the 1500m this time, a couple of weeks on from his European 5000m title win in Birmingham &ndash; his first race since the world final in Tokyo last year. This time his rivals include Olympic champion Cole Hocker, world champion Isaac Nader and 2022 world champion Jake Wightman.
Also in 1500m action, world silver medallist Dorcus Ewoi takes on world leader Birke Haylom, Olympic silver medallist Jess Hull, Olympic 800m silver medallist Tsige Duguma, Nikki Hiltz and Klaudia Kazimierska.
World leader Likina Amebaw, who won in Rome in a PB of 14:18.41, will renew her rivalry with her Ethiopian compatriot Medina Eisa, who beat her in Doha, in a 5000m that features double world medallist Nadia Battocletti, fresh off a European double title win.
Two-time world and Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali goes in the 3000m steeplechase against world bronze medallist Edmund Serem, El Bakkali looking to extend his win streak this season to four Diamond League races.
<h2>Duplantis aims high, Mahuchikh faces Olyslagers</h2>
Sweden&rsquo;s Mondo Duplantis and Emmanouil Karalis of Greece had a brilliant pole vault battle in Lausanne on Thursday, respectively clearing 6.21m and 6.16m, and they meet again in the non-Diamond League contest in Silesia. The Kamila Skolimowska Memorial is where Duplantis set the 10th of his now 15 world records &ndash; 6.26m in 2024.
The leading eight high jumpers in the world this year feature in an entry list topped by Ukraine&rsquo;s world record-holder and Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Australia&rsquo;s world champion Nicola Olyslagers. They face Eleanor Patterson, who beat Olyslagers to the Commonwealth title, plus Angelina Topić and Yuliia Levchenko.
Another world record-holder is in action in the discus as Mykolas Alekna takes on world leader Matthew Denny, who sits second on the world all-time list, as well as global gold medallists Kristjan Čeh, Daniel St&aring;hl and Roj&eacute; Stona.
In the triple jump, world leader and Olympic champion Thea LaFond, who has jumped 15.25m this year, competes against Davisleydi Velazco, who has jumped 15.13m, as well as world champion Leyanis P&eacute;rez Hern&aacute;ndez, another 15-metre-plus athlete this year.
The world leaders in the shot put and hammer all compete in the non-Diamond League contests in Silesia. Leonardo Fabbri goes up against Tom Walsh and Joe Kovacs in the men&rsquo;s shot put, while the hammer battles star Olympic and world champion Camryn Rogers against DeAnna Price and Bence Hal&aacute;sz against Ethan Katzberg.
A series of field events kick off the action on the eve of the main meeting. On Saturday, Gianmarco Tamberi faces Oleh Doroshchuk, JuVaughn Harrison, Woo Sanghyeok and Mutaz Barshim in the high jump.
Alyssa Jones, Malaika Mihambo and Agate de Sousa, who have all jumped seven metres this year, meet in the long jump, while the non-Diamond League women&rsquo;s shot put stars the three top-ranked athletes in the world: Jessica Schilder, Chase Jackson and Sarah Mitton.

Audrey Werro, Mondo Duplantis, Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Masai Russell will be among the stars in action when the Wanda Diamond League resumes in Lausanne this week.
World pole vault record-holder Duplantis headlines the city event on the shores of Lake Geneva on Thursday (20) before the main Athletissima meeting at the Pontaise Olympic Stadium on Friday (21).
Sweden&rsquo;s Duplantis makes his eighth appearance in Lausanne, fresh off clearing a championship record of 6.15m to win his fourth successive European pole vault title in Birmingham. That height also stands as the Athletissima record, set by Duplantis in 2024. He will again be challenged by Greece&rsquo;s Emmanouil Karalis, who added European silver to his major medal collection on Sunday, and Australia&rsquo;s Kurtis Marschall, who handed Duplantis his first defeat in almost three years in Stockholm in June.
It was also in Stockholm that Swiss star Werro ran 1:53.98 to move to third on the world 800m all-time list. She strengthened that position by clocking 1:53.80 in Paris later that month and most recently beat Keely Hodgkinson and Femke Broeders-Bol to the European title in Birmingham.
Werro and Broeders-Bol clash again in Lausanne and this time they face Kenya&rsquo;s world champion Lilian Odira, winner at the Diamond League meeting in Eugene.
Beyond victory in Lausanne, athletes will be competing for places at the Diamond League Final in Brussels where Werro will want to retain her Diamond League title. A win in Brussels also secures guaranteed entry for events contested at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, making the Diamond League Final the last opportunity for athletes to book their place in Budapest automatically.
The men&rsquo;s 800m sees Kenya&rsquo;s Olympic and world champion Wanyonyi return to the scene of his 1:41.11 from 2024 &ndash; a performance that places him joint second on the world all-time list. He goes on the hunt for his first Diamond League 800m win of the year, following the world 1000m record of 2:11.83 he set in Monaco last month. His competition includes Canada&rsquo;s world leader Marco Arop, who won at the Paris Diamond League in 1:41.84, and USA&rsquo;s Brandon Miller, the winner of the London Diamond League.
<h2>D&iacute;az set to soar</h2>
Italy&rsquo;s Andy D&iacute;az Hern&aacute;ndez soared to fourth on the world triple jump all-time list at the European Championships and the world indoor champion will want to maintain the momentum in Lausanne as he competes for the first time since that 18.15m leap.
Portugal&rsquo;s world champion Pedro Pichardo was runner-up in that high-quality contest, while D&iacute;az&rsquo;s compatriot Andrea Dallavalle was third and they all compete again, up against Jamaica&rsquo;s Jordan Scott who beat D&iacute;az during the Diamond League in Oslo. Christian Taylor&rsquo;s meeting record, set in 2015, stands at 18.06m.
The top three in the European long jump final also renew their rivalry as Olympic champion Milti&aacute;dis Tent&oacute;glou again meets Swiss favourite Simon Ehammer and Bulgaria&rsquo;s Bozhidar Sar&acirc;boyukov.
Another home star goes in the pole vault as two-time world indoor medallist Angelica Moser returns to action after winning European gold with a 4.80m clearance. Finland&rsquo;s Wilma Heltel&auml; secured European silver behind her and in Lausanne they face multiple global champions Nina Kennedy and Katie Moon.
Two athletes who have surpassed 90 metres this season &ndash; Sri Lanka&rsquo;s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage and Germany&rsquo;s Julian Weber &ndash; will clash in a javelin contest that also brings together the winners of the past four world titles: Keshorn Walcott, Neeraj Chopra and Anderson Peters.
The women&rsquo;s event features Colombia&rsquo;s Flor Denis Ruiz Hurtado who improved her own South American record to 67.34m to retain her title at the Central American and Caribbean Games earlier this month. She competes for her first Diamond League win of the year against Sigrid Borge, who threw 65.00m to finish second in Xiamen, and Adriana Vilago&scaron;, the runner-up in Paris, as well as Olympic champion Haruka Kitaguchi.
<h2>Sprint showdowns</h2>
The 100m hurdles stars a clash between the Olympic champion and the world champion as USA&rsquo;s Masai Russell goes up against home star Ditaji Kambundji. Russell is unbeaten in the 100m hurdles this year and she ran 12.14 in Xiamen in May &ndash; a performance just 0.02 off the world record. Adding further strength to the field are Monaco runner-up Alaysha Johnson, Nadine Visser and Pia Skrzyszowska.
The 110m hurdles is not a Diamond discipline in Lausanne but it still features a formidable field led by USA&rsquo;s world record-holder Ja'Kobe Tharp.
The men&rsquo;s 200m is the final Diamond discipline on the programme and it brings together Botswana&rsquo;s Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo, Puerto Rico&rsquo;s Jos&eacute; Figueroa and South Africa&rsquo;s Sinesipho Dambile, who have all broken 19.85 this season.
Jamaica&rsquo;s two-time world 200m champion Shericka Jackson takes on Favour Ofili, Kayla White and Amy Hunt in the women&rsquo;s race, Jackson looking to add to her two Diamond League victories this year in China. Hunt returns to Diamond League action after winning a record four gold medals at the European Championships.
Emma Zapletalov&aacute; goes for her fifth Diamond League win this year in the 400m hurdles, while the men&rsquo;s non-Diamond League event includes Olympic and world champion Rai Benjamin in what looks to be his sole hurdles outing in a season in which he is focused on the 400m. His most recent race was the London Diamond League 400m, which he won in a PB of 44.05.
Olympic champion Winfred Yavi goes up against world champion Faith Cherotich in the 3000m steeplechase, both athletes having clocked 8:51 this season. Switzerland&rsquo;s Dominic Lokinyomo Lobalu will target back-to-back Diamond League wins following his 5000m victory in Monaco but will line up after a busy week at the European Championships where he contested the 5000m and 10,000m, getting silver in the latter. He faces Birhanu Balew, Parker Wolfe and Grant Fisher.

Audrey Werro, Mondo Duplantis, Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Masai Russell will be among the stars in action when the Wanda Diamond League resumes in Lausanne this week.

Star clashes to light up Lausanne as Diamond League resumes

Great Britain&rsquo;s Josh Kerr achieved his much-publicised aim of breaking the long-standing world mile record with a stunning 3:42.66* run at the Novuna London Athletics Meet &ndash; this season&rsquo;s 11th Wanda Diamond League meeting &ndash; on Saturday (18).
Kerr added his name to the pantheon of world record-holders after attacking the mark in the Emsley Carr Mile as part of &lsquo;Project 222&rsquo; &ndash; the number of seconds he hoped to complete the distance in to improve on the world record set by Hicham El Guerrouj in Rome in 1999.
And he did so &ndash; the 2023 world 1500m champion, two-time Olympic medallist and two-time world indoor champion becoming the first athlete to break 3:43, improving on El Guerrouj&rsquo;s 3:43.13 set 27 years ago.
Kerr was paced by his training partner Brannon Kidder and Žan Rudolf, and Kidder hit 400m on world record tempo in 54.75, Kerr a few strides back in 55.3. Kidder led through 800m, which Kerr reached in 1:51.1, before the pacemakers stepped aside and Kerr took over to pass 1200m in 2:46.39, roared on by the 60,000-strong London Stadium crowd. Kerr then hit 1500m in 3:27.62 &ndash; faster than his own British record for the distance &ndash; and the world record looked within reach.
Months of preparation had led to that point and Kerr dug deep to hit the finish line in 3:42.66, taking 0.47 off El Guerrouj&rsquo;s record. The 28-year-old had been tracked by USA&rsquo;s Yared Nuguse earlier in the race but Nuguse couldn&rsquo;t stick with the closing pace and finished second in 3:45.69. Great Britain&rsquo;s Jake Heyward was third in a PB of 3:46.73 and Robert Farken finished fourth in a German record of 3:46.82.
&ldquo;It is very overwhelming. There was a lot of hype,&rdquo; said Kerr. &ldquo;I am surrounded by amazing people, so I have continued to put the work in and I knew I had a 3:42 in me. I nearly lost it there at the end, but I got over the line.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Out there, I am just the body, but there is an incredible amount of work behind the scenes. Today is a result of all that hard work. The last lap was incredible. I was deaf in the last 110 metres.&rdquo;
Kerr&rsquo;s run was among a number of record-breaking performances in London. Cierra Jackson set a Diamond League record with a final throw thriller in the discus, while meeting records were set by Karsten Warholm in the 400m hurdles, Julien Alfred in the 200m and Ja'Kobe Tharp in the 110m hurdles.
<h2>Jackson throws 71.72m</h2>
USA&rsquo;s Cierra Jackson improved her PB by almost four metres to win the discus with her final throw of 71.72m &ndash; a mark that added 34 centimetres to the Diamond League record set by Sandra Elkasević in Doha in 2018.
Jackson was in third place heading into the last round of a competition led by world and Olympic champion Valarie Sion with 68.39m from the third round. But Jackson, who won the NCAA title last year, saved her best for last and launched the implement 71.72m to win ahead of Sion and Jorinde van Klinken with 67.99m.
"I was super nervous going into that throw," said Jackson. "I couldn't feel my hands, my stomach was hurting. I just took a deep breath and threw and I watched it fly. I was like, 'oh my god', and then I saw the mark and I could not breathe."

<h2>Meeting records for Warholm, Alfred and Tharp</h2>
Norway&rsquo;s world record-holder Karsten Warholm stormed to the fastest 400m hurdles in the world this year, improving his own meeting record to 46.61 to clinch a clear victory. Back at the scene of the first of his three world title wins in 2017, Warholm ensured the Diamond League track action started in style as he got his first hurdles race win of the season. Emil Agyekum was second in a German record of 47.45.
Saint Lucia&rsquo;s Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred was also delighted with her performance on her return to London as she won a 200m clash against USA&rsquo;s Olympic 200m champion Gabby Thomas &ndash; 21.66 to 21.81 (0.1m/s). It was Alfred&rsquo;s third win in nine days after her 21.51 at the Diamond League in Monaco that moved her to third on the world 200m all-time list and her 10.87 100m win in Budapest on Tuesday. Shaunae Miller-Uibo was third in London in 22.24.
USA&rsquo;s world 110m hurdles record-holder Ja'Kobe Tharp dipped under 13 seconds for the fifth time this season, maintaining his magnificent run of form with a meeting record of 12.89 (0.3m/s). The 20-year-old is the first athlete in history to go sub-13 seconds in five consecutive 110m hurdles races.
Tharp set his world record of 12.75 during last month&rsquo;s NCAA Championships semifinals and followed that with 12.90 in the final. He then ran 12.91 when finishing runner-up at the Eugene Diamond League before returning to winning ways with 12.85 in Budapest on Tuesday. His run in London improves a meeting record that was set by former world record-holder Aries Merritt in 2012 and it saw Tharp win clear ahead of Kendry L. Men&eacute;ndez in a PB of 13.01. Trey Cunningham was third in 13.12.
NCAA champion Kanyinsola Ajayi beat world champion Oblique Seville for the second time this season &ndash; 9.84 to 9.87 (-0.7m/s) &ndash; as Ajayi matched his time from the Prefontaine Classic to equal his own Nigerian 100m record. Racing in the lane next to Seville, Ajayi looked across at the Jamaican as they crossed the finish line, separated by just 0.03. Romell Glave was third in a PB of 9.97, the same time as Emmanuel Eseme in fourth.
USA&rsquo;s world 400m hurdles champion Rai Benjamin ran a PB to pip home star Matthew Hudson-Smith in the 400m, Benjamin clocking 44.05 and Hudson-Smith 44.18. Jacory Patterson was third in 44.25. Dominican Republic&rsquo;s Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino maintained her 400m win streak, charging away from her rivals down the home straight to triumph in 48.97 &ndash; her fourth race under 49 seconds this season. Henriette J&aelig;ger was runner-up in a Norwegian record of 49.15, while Stacey Ann Williams finished third in 49.52.
<h2>Two-lap triumph for Hodgkinson and Miller</h2>
London offered Keely Hodgkinson and Femke Broeders-Bol their first ever clash over 800m and it ended with a first win of the season for Olympic champion Hodgkinson in front of a home crowd. Taking to the track a short while after Kerr&rsquo;s world record, Hodgkinson claimed the final win of the day in 1:56.21 as world 400m hurdles champion Broeders-Bol clocked 1:56.46. Olympic silver medallist Tsige Duguma was third in 1:56.92.
USA&rsquo;s Brandon Miller ran the race of his life to clinch his 800m win, improving his PB by almost a second to 1:42.19. Miller tracked Kenya&rsquo;s world and Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Great Britain&rsquo;s Max Burgin, who won at the Diamond League in Rabat, as they approached the final bend. Timing his kick to perfection, Miller catapulted himself off the curve and his rivals had no response &ndash; he took the win ahead of Ireland&rsquo;s fast-finishing Mark English who also dipped under 1:43 for the first time with 1:42.97. Burgin was third in 1:43.30 and Wanyonyi &ndash; who ran a world 1000m record in Monaco just eight days earlier &ndash; finished fourth in 1:43.31.
Australia&rsquo;s Olympic 1500m silver medallist Jessica Hull also used a fierce kick to take victory in the 3000m. Content to sit back in the early stages, she made her way up the field and surged hard with 200 metres remaining. Rose Davies gave chase but couldn&rsquo;t catch her compatriot &ndash; Hull winning in 8:24.69 ahead of Davies in a PB of 8:25.38. The next three also set PBs &ndash; Sarah Healy in 8:25.63, Hannah Nuttall in 8:26.48 and Fantaye Belayneh in 8:26.98.
Australia&rsquo;s world champion Nicola Olyslagers and Ukraine&rsquo;s world record-holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh were evenly matched in the high jump as they both cleared an outdoor world-leading height of 2.01m, Olyslagers clinching the win on countback. Germany&rsquo;s multiple global champion Malaika Mihambo kept her cool after four fouls in the long jump, soaring 7.05m in the fifth round to win ahead of Claire Bryant with a leap of 6.94m.
USA&rsquo;s two-time world champion Sam Kendricks won a pole vault contest that ended in disappointment for world record-holder Mondo Duplantis.
Kendricks, Duplantis, Kurtis Marschall and Emmanouil Karalis all cleared 5.95m, Kendricks getting the win on countback thanks to his first-time clearances up to and including that height. But after failing once at 5.85m and passing straight to 5.95m, which he cleared first time, Duplantis had his left thigh strapped and then decided to retire from the competition.
&ldquo;It wasn't my best day,&rdquo; said Duplantis. &ldquo;I need to go back, reassess and maybe get a scan. I am sorry to the fans for not putting a good performance together.&rdquo;

Kerr breaks world mile record with 3:42.66 in London

Deep fields full of global medallists and world record-holders will light up the Novuna London Athletics Meet when Wanda Diamond League action continues in the UK capital on Saturday (18).
Emmanuel Wanyonyi races the 800m a week on from becoming the fastest 1000m runner in history. His fellow world record-holder Ja&rsquo;Kobe Tharp headlines the 110m hurdles and Josh Kerr goes on the hunt for a world record of his own.
Julien Alfred, Mondo Duplantis, Keely Hodgkinson, Femke Broeders-Bol and Yaroslava Mahuchikh are among the many other world and Olympic champions who will be in London as the race towards the Diamond League Final in Brussels and the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest in September intensifies.
Kenya&rsquo;s Olympic and world 800m champion Wanyonyi improved the world 1000m record by 0.13 during the Diamond League meeting in Monaco, running 2:11.83 on his debut at the distance. Now he returns to race the 800m. His opposition includes Britain&rsquo;s Max Burgin, who handed Wanyonyi one of his two Diamond League 800m defeats this season in Rabat. Mark English, Peter Bol, Bryce Hoppel and Ben Pattison are also in action, while 2022 world 1500m champion Jake Wightman is a late withdrawal after running 2:12.77 when finishing runner-up to Wanyonyi in Monaco, a mark that moved the Briton to fifth on the world all-time list.
&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t want to talk about the world record in the 800m,&rdquo; Wanyonyi said after his Monaco performance, referring to David Rudisha&rsquo;s mark of 1:40.91 set in the same London stadium almost 14 years ago. &ldquo;I first want to run fast and improve my personal best. Let me keep quiet, actions speak louder than words.&rdquo;
Olympic champion Hodgkinson targets her first win of the season in an 800m that pits her for the first time against Dutch star Broeders-Bol, who continues her journey from the 400m hurdles to the 800m, as well as Ethiopia&rsquo;s Olympic silver medallist Tsige Duguma.
Hodgkinson sits second on this season&rsquo;s world top list with the national record of 1:54.33 she ran during the Diamond League in Stockholm and she clocked 1:56.73 in Eugene despite feeling the effects of a fall she suffered the day before she flew to the US. World 400m hurdles champion Broeders-Bol ran 1:55.60 in Paris, while Duguma has clocked 1:57.24 so far this year. Isabelle Boffey and Jemma Reekie will also be racing on home soil.
"I&rsquo;m not putting any pressure on myself to chase times to everybody else&rsquo;s expectation," said&nbsp;Hodgkinson, who broke the world 800m short track record indoors in February, during the pre-event press conference. "I know what I am capable of and I know it&rsquo;s going to be there when I need it. Whether that&rsquo;s tomorrow, whether that&rsquo;s at the European final, whether it&rsquo;s at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship &ndash; I trust my team, I&rsquo;ll be ready when I need to be. I&rsquo;m in a good place."
Kerr has made no secret of his plan to attack the long-standing world mile record on home soil. The 2023 world 1500m champion and two-time Olympic medallist will be paced by his training partner Brannon Kidder as he targets 3:42 as part of &lsquo;project 222&rsquo; &ndash; the number of seconds he hopes to complete the distance in to improve on the world record of 3:43.13 set by Hicham El Guerrouj in Rome in 1999.
Kerr currently sits sixth on the world all-time list with the British record of 3:45.34 he set in Eugene in 2024 and in London he will line up alongside the athlete two places ahead of him on that all-time list &ndash; USA&rsquo;s Olympic medallist Yared Nuguse who ran 3:43.97 in 2023. Joining them in the field are Mohamed Abdilaahi, who ran a world lead of 7:25.77 to win the 3000m in Shanghai in May, and his German compatriot Robert Farken, plus Ethan Strand.
"My body is capable of the mark, so my job tomorrow is to have my mind be available to let my body do its job," said Kerr. "My goal is to get through 1200 metres as smoothly as possible and then see what I&rsquo;ve got left for that last 400 metres.
"What you&rsquo;ll see out there tomorrow is all of me."
The 3000m pits Australia&rsquo;s Olympic 1500m silver medallist Jessica Hull, fresh off pacing Agnes Ngetich to the third-fastest performance in history (8:08.95) in Monaco, against her compatriots Linden Hall and Georgia Griffith, Ethiopia&rsquo;s Medina Eisa and Hirut Meshesha, and Great Britain&rsquo;s Megan Keith and Laura Muir.
<h2>Tharp in sharp form</h2>
The 110m hurdles stars three of the seven fastest men of all time as world record-holder Ja'Kobe Tharp renews his rivalry with his compatriots Jamal Britt and Cordell Tinch.
Tharp set a surprise world record of 12.75 during last month&rsquo;s NCAA Championships semifinals and backed it up with 12.90 in the final. He then won at the Continental Tour Gold meeting in Budapest on Tuesday in 12.85 &ndash; the fifth-fastest performance in history &ndash; despite celebrating ahead of the finish. In that most recent race he beat Britt, the winner ahead of Tharp at the Diamond League in Eugene in a PB of 12.86, and world champion Tinch, who clocked 12.87 last year.&nbsp;
Adding further strength to the field are world silver medallist Orlando Bennett and 2022 world silver medallist Trey Cunningham, who won the Rome Diamond League in a PB of 12.98.
Another world record-holder leads the entries for the 400m hurdles as Norway&rsquo;s Karsten Warholm returns to the scene of his first world title win in 2017. He seeks his first Diamond League win of the season after runner-up finishes in Oslo, Shanghai and Xiamen where he ran 46.82. Only Alison dos Santos has gone quicker than that in 2026 and while the Brazilian won&rsquo;t be in London, Warholm does face Emil Agyekum, who won in Budapest on Tuesday, as well as Ezekiel Nathaniel, Trevor Bassitt, Matheus Lima and Caleb Dean.

They will line up for the 200m alongside Great Britain&rsquo;s Dina Asher-Smith and Amy Hunt as well as Bahamian two-time Olympic 400m champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo.
Jamaica&rsquo;s Oblique Seville returns as the world champion to defend his 100m crown. The world leader, who ran 9.82 in Kingston in June and 9.88 to win in Monaco last week, again takes on USA&rsquo;s world indoor 60m champion Jordan Anthony, who was the runner-up in Monaco, as well as NCAA champion Kayinsola Ajayi, who beat Seville in Eugene in 9.84, and British record-holder Zharnel Hughes.
World 400m hurdles champion Rai Benjamin continues to focus on the flat event as he races the 400m against home star Matthew Hudson-Smith and Jacory Patterson, while Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino heads the women&rsquo;s field against Henriette J&aelig;ger and Yemi Mary John.
<h2>Duplantis makes London return</h2>
Swedish pole vault star Mondo Duplantis returns to compete in London for the first time since 2018. In that time he has become a 15-time world record-breaker, taking the mark to 6.31m, as well as a two-time Olympic, three-time world and four-time world indoor champion. He has surpassed six metres in seven of his eight competitions this year, suffering a rare defeat to Kurtis Marschall during one of them, in Stockholm. Marschall also competes in London, as does Emmanouil Karalis who cleared 6.17m to move to second on the world all-time list in February.
Both Ukraine&rsquo;s world record-holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Australia&rsquo;s 2022 world champion Eleanor Patterson have cleared 2.00m so far this outdoor season and they clash in the high jump against Patterson&rsquo;s compatriot Nicola Olyslagers, the world champion, as well as Iryna Gerashchenko and Morgan Lake.
World and Olympic discus champion Valarie Sion will want to maintain a Diamond League win streak that dates back to 2023, while Larissa Iapichino leads the long jump field following her 7.12m Italian record set in Eugene.

Star-studded fields ready to line up in London

Emmanuel Wanyonyi made his 1000m debut in sensational style, running 2:11.83* to break the long-standing world record at the Meeting International d&rsquo;Athl&eacute;tisme Herculis EBS in Monaco on Friday (10).
With that performance at the Wanda Diamond League meeting, the Olympic and world 800m champion took 0.13 off the world record of 2:11.96 set by his Kenyan compatriot Noah Ngeny in Rieti in 1999.
It was a night of record-breaking performances at the Louis II Stadium. As well as Wanyonyi&rsquo;s historic mark, meeting records and some of the fastest performances of all time were achieved by Agnes Ngetich, Julien Alfred, Collen Kebinatshipi, Masai Russell and Marileidy Paulino. Meeting records also fell in the field through Milti&aacute;dis Tent&oacute;glou in a long jump contest of record depth and Mondo Duplantis, while Nina Kennedy set a world-leading Oceanian record of 4.95m in the pole vault.
Wanyonyi followed the pacemakers as the first, Patryk Sieradzki, reached 400m on world record pace in 50.95 as planned. The second pacemaker Louey Ouerrat hit 800m in 1:45.11 before Wanyonyi took over and stormed towards the finish, chased hard by 2022 world 1500m champion Jake Wightman.
Wanyonyi charged over the line in 2:11.83, Wightman followed him in 2:12.77 to move to fifth on the world all-time list and world and Olympic medallist Djamel Sedjati was third in 2:13.94 as the top six all dipped under 2:15.
&ldquo;This was the first time I ran the 1000m and breaking the world record makes me so happy,&rdquo; said Wanyonyi. &ldquo;I want to thank the other athletes who pushed me to my limit.&rdquo;
Agnes Ngetich also surged up the world all-time list, winning the 3000m in a meeting record of 8:08.95 &ndash; the third-fastest performance in history.
The athlete who sits second on that all-time list is her Kenyan compatriot Faith Kipyegon &ndash; the world 1500m and mile record-holder who achieved her mile mark in Monaco in 2023. The multiple global gold medallist was also in 3000m action but, continuing her comeback after a hamstring injury following her 5000m win in Shanghai in May, she finished fourth this time in 8:24.21 behind Ngetich, Aleshign Baweke in a PB of 8:23.81 and Senayet Getachew in a PB of 8:24.02.
It was a dominant run by Ngetich in her first track race of the year &ndash; a year she started by winning the world cross-country title in Tallahassee in January. Ngetich set off right behind the pacemakers in Monaco and followed Olympic silver medallist Jess Hull, who helped to pace Kipyegon to her 8:07.04 3000m in Silesia in August, as she hit 1000m in 2:41.85.
Ngetich took control with three laps to go and passed 2000m in 5:24.08. She slipped off world record pace over the last couple of laps but managed to hold on to become the third-quickest runner in history.
<h2>Alfred No.3 all time with 21.51</h2>
A race between the three fastest women of the year produced the third-fastest athlete in history as Saint Lucia&rsquo;s Julien Alfred blazed to a world-leading meeting and national record of 21.51 (0.9m/s) in the 200m.

The Olympic 100m champion powered away to leave Adaejah Hodge, who started as the world leader on 21.68, and Olympic 200m champion Gabby Thomas in her wake &ndash; Hodge finishing second in 21.76 and Thomas, in her first Diamond League race in two years, placing third in 21.84.
Alfred now sits third on the world all-time list. Only Florence Griffith Joyner and Shericka Jackson have ever gone quicker.
&ldquo;I have been preparing for this for such a long time,&rdquo; said Alfred. &ldquo;I didn&rsquo;t realise how fast it was until I crossed the line. I looked at the clock and saw my time and that&rsquo;s why I was screaming like at the Olympics.&rdquo;
Botswana&rsquo;s Collen Kebinatshipi ran even quicker than he did to win his world title in Tokyo, clocking a national record of 43.44 to improve the Diamond League record he set in Paris less than two weeks ago by a tenth of a second.
He finished clear ahead of Jacory Patterson and world 400m hurdles champion Rai Benjamin, Kebinatshipi improving on the PB of 43.53 he set in Tokyo to move to joint sixth on the world all-time list. Patterson was second in 43.96 and Benjamin was third in 44.13.
Dominican Republic&rsquo;s Marileidy Paulino demonstrated her trademark finishing strength to take another win in the women&rsquo;s 400m, breaking the meeting record with 48.67. The Olympic champion judged her race to perfection, chasing Lurdes Gloria Manuel and Aaliyah Butler to the final bend before striding past them to take the win. Butler was second in a PB of 48.84 and Manuel was third in 49.44.
Another meeting record fell in the 100m hurdles as USA&rsquo;s Masai Russell maintained her superb run of form to win in 12.20 (-0.4m/s). The Olympic champion, who ran 12.14 at the Diamond League meeting in Xiamen to miss the world record by just 0.02, now owns four of the top seven performances in history. Alaysha Johnson was second in 12.38 and Nadine Visser was third in 12.49.
Jamaica&rsquo;s world champion Oblique Seville clinched the final win of the evening, taking the 100m in 9.88 ahead of world indoor 60m champion Jordan Anthony and Emmanuel Eseme. Seville, who holds the world lead of 9.82, finished second in his last Diamond League race in Eugene on Saturday but rebounded to edge Anthony in 9.92 and Eseme in 10.00.&nbsp;
Kenya&rsquo;s Olympic finalist Simon Koech dominated the 3000m steeplechase, winning in 8:03.35 ahead of Japan&rsquo;s Ryuji Miura in 8:10.30. The 5000m came down to a sprint finish, Switzerland's Dominic Lobalu winning a fierce fight with USA&rsquo;s Graham Blanks &ndash; 12:52.54 to 12:52.60.
<h2>Tentoglou soars 8.61m in competitive clash, Kennedy vaults 4.95m</h2>
The long jump featured record depth during a highly competitive contest. Greece&rsquo;s two-time Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou achieved the second-best winning mark of his career &ndash; 8.61m (0.0m/s), just four centimetres off his PB &ndash; in the final round to set a meeting record and world lead. He had led the competition from his very first jump of 8.48m and his impressive series also included leaps of 8.52m, 8.49m and 8.34m.

For the first time in history, five men jumped beyond 8.30m in a single competition. Olympic silver medallist Wayne Pinnock was second on 8.39m, world U20 record-holder Jorge Hodel&iacute;n was third on 8.38m, world indoor bronze medallist Bozhidar Sar&acirc;boyukov was fourth on 8.36m and Simon Ehammer, who started as the world leader after jumping 8.51m during the decathlon at G&ouml;tzis, finished fifth on 8.32m.
"When you jump 8.50m and then you jump 8.60m &ndash; that is just crazy. I do not think it happened many times in history," said&nbsp;Tentoglou, who improved a meeting record set by&nbsp;Iv&aacute;n Pedroso in 1995. "I know I am in really good shape and to be honest, I wanted a little bit more. The meeting record from Pedroso &ndash; that is the most important for me today."
The Herculis featured both women&rsquo;s and men&rsquo;s pole vault contests for the first time and they didn&rsquo;t disappoint, Nina Kennedy improving the Oceanian record to 4.95m and Mondo Duplantis clearing a meeting record of 6.07m.
Kennedy managed all heights from 4.52m to 4.82m on her first attempts. After one failed attempt at 4.87m, and with the competition won as Amanda Moll knocked the bar twice after passing to that height following one failed attempt at 4.82m, Kennedy had the bar moved straight to 4.95m. She managed that on her first try, too, to move to joint fifth on the world all-time list &ndash; with the highest vault in the world since 2021 &ndash; before taking three attempts at 5.00m. Moll was second thanks to her 4.72m clearance.
The men&rsquo;s pole vault was not a Diamond League discipline but Sweden&rsquo;s world record-holder Mondo Duplantis &ndash; now a Monaco resident &ndash; still put on a show. He cleared 5.70m, 5.85m and a meeting record of 6.07m on his first attempts before taking three unsuccessful attempts at 6.15m.
Cuba&rsquo;s Leyanis P&eacute;rez Hern&aacute;ndez achieved the leap of her life to win the triple jump, surpassing 15-metres with a legal wind for the first time with 15.06m (-0.1m/s) in the final round.&nbsp;
Before that, the world champion sat in second place with her opening jump of 14.80m &ndash; a mark she followed with four fouls. World indoor bronze medallist Saly Sarr had the lead at that point with 14.85m from the fourth round, but they both had more to give. Sarr improved to a PB of 14.99m (0.7m/s) in the final round but P&eacute;rez Hern&aacute;ndez had the next jump and she maintained her composure to soar 15.06m, adding eight centimetres to her two-year-old PB to become the latest member of the 15-metre club. Sarr finished second with that 14.99m PB, while Olympic champion Thea LaFond was third on 14.79m (-0.9m/s).
China&rsquo;s world U20 champion Yan Ziyi also saved her best for last, winning the javelin with 68.75m in the final round. The 18-year-old, who threw 71.74m in Xiamen to move to second on the world all-time list, held the lead from the second round as she opened with a foul before managing 64.60m. Two-time world U20 champion Adriana Vilago&scaron; was second on 63.18m.
The men&rsquo;s high jump was won by Ukraine&rsquo;s world indoor champion Oleh Doroshchuk thanks to his clearance of 2.32m. Kimani Jack cleared 2.30m to finish second, while Sarvesh Anil Kushare was third on 2.26m.

Wanyonyi breaks world 1000m record with 2:11.83 in Monaco

Every elite field at the Meeting International d&rsquo;Athl&eacute;tisme Herculis EBS features a reigning Olympic, world or world indoor champion as the sport&rsquo;s leading lights return to Monaco for the 10th Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season on Friday (10).
In many cases those global gold medallists will go head-to-head &ndash; Julien Alfred and Gabby Thomas in the 200m, Mattia Furlani and Miltiadis Tentoglou in the long jump, Katie Moon and Nina Kennedy in the pole vault, Thea LaFond and Leyanis P&eacute;rez in the triple jump, and Oblique Seville, Letsile Tebogo and Jordan Anthony in the 100m are just some of the top-class clashes on offer.
Faith Kipyegon is back at the scene of her world mile record, while another world record-holder headlines the pole vault as Mondo Duplantis returns to familiar territory to defend his Herculis crown.
Two Olympic champions come together in the 200m as USA&rsquo;s Thomas takes on Saint Lucia&rsquo;s Alfred. Thomas, the Olympic 200m champion, opens her Diamond League season one month on from running 21.70 &ndash; the third-fastest time of her career &ndash; in Texas, while Olympic 100m champion Alfred seeks her third Diamond League win of the season following her 100m and 200m victories in Oslo and Rome. But they will have to contend with world leader Adaejah Hodge, the 20-year-old who ran 21.68 last month and finished third in the 100m on her Diamond League debut in Eugene on Saturday.
The men&rsquo;s 100m is similarly stacked as Jamaica&rsquo;s world champion Seville faces Botswana&rsquo;s Olympic 200m champion Tebogo and USA&rsquo;s world indoor 60m champion Anthony. Seville, who holds the world lead of 9.82, and Tebogo will both be looking to rebound after finishing second in the 100m and the 200m, respectively, in Eugene.
USA&rsquo;s Masai Russell has been edging closer to the world 100m hurdles record, her 12.14 at the Diamond League meeting in Xiamen missing the global mark by just 0.02. The Olympic champion is unbeaten in the discipline this year, her most recent performance being her 12.24 in Eugene on Saturday, but among those looking to challenge her are Nadine Visser, Pia Skrzyszowska and Alaysha Johnson.
Botswana&rsquo;s Collen Kebinatshipi and Dominican Republic&rsquo;s Marileidy Paulino set Diamond League 400m records in Paris and they both star in Monaco. World champion Kebinatshipi will aim to maintain his Diamond League 400m win streak after victories in Xiamen, Paris and Eugene &ndash; the latter ahead of world 400m hurdles champion Rai Benjamin, who is a late addition to the Monaco field. Like&nbsp;Kebinatshipi, Zakithi Nene has dipped under 44 seconds this season &ndash; when finishing runner-up to Kebinatshipi in Paris &ndash; and will want to challenge again, along with Matt Hudson-Smith and Jacory Patterson.
Olympic champion Paulino is also unbeaten in the Diamond League 400m so far this year after wins in Doha and Paris. She takes on the likes of Nickisha Pryce, who won the Diamond League in Shanghai, plus Lurdes Gloria Manuel and Roxana G&oacute;mez.
<h2>Kipyegon and Wanyonyi return</h2>
Kenya&rsquo;s Kipyegon created history at the Louis II Stadium with her world mile record of 4:07.64 in 2023 and she returns to race the 3000m.
The multiple global gold medallist opened her track season with a 5000m win in Shanghai after a road 10km debut in Monaco in February and continues her comeback following a hamstring injury. The mile in Eugene on Saturday was her first race since Shanghai and she finished third, two places ahead of Olympic and world 1500m medallist Jess Hull who set a world 2000m record in Monaco in 2024 and runs as a pacemaker this time. They line up alongside two-time world indoor gold medallist Freweyni Hailu and world cross-country champion Agnes Ngetich in her first track race of the season, plus French Olympic triathlon champion Cassandre Beaugrand.
Another Olympic triathlon champion goes in the men&rsquo;s 5000m as Great Britain&rsquo;s Alex Yee races world silver medallist Isaac Kimeli, Biniam Mehary and Birhanu Balew, who ran an Asian record of 12:47.73 in Oslo.
The men&rsquo;s 1000m is also a clash of global medallists. Kenya&rsquo;s world and Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi won the 800m in Monaco in 1:41.44 last year, breaking a meeting record that had been set by Algeria&rsquo;s world and Olympic medallist Djamel Sedjati the year before, and the pair compete again &ndash; this time over the slightly longer distance &ndash; in a race also starring world leader Mohamed Attaoui, 2022 world 1500m champion Jake Wightman, Ben Pattison, Bryce Hoppel and Gabriel Tual.
New Zealand&rsquo;s world champion Geordie Beamish seeks his first Diamond League win of the year as he goes in a 3000m steeplechase rematch against world bronze medallist Edmund Serem, Olympic bronze medallist Abraham Kibiwot and Simon Koech, who broke eight minutes in Rabat.
<h2>Fierce field fights at every turn</h2>
For the first time, the Herculis will feature both men&rsquo;s and women&rsquo;s pole vault contests, giving Sweden&rsquo;s world record-holder Mondo Duplantis &ndash; now a Monaco resident &ndash; the chance to build on the meeting record of 6.05m he set last year. The men&rsquo;s competition is not a Diamond League discipline this year but it still features a strong field as world and Olympic champion Duplantis faces multiple world medallist Kurtis Marschall, who beat him in Stockholm.
The women&rsquo;s event is another that pits world champion against Olympic champion as USA&rsquo;s Katie Moon faces Australia&rsquo;s Nina Kennedy &ndash; both with a best of 4.80m so far this year &ndash; as well as Imogen Ayris and in-form twin sisters Hana and Amanda Moll.
Dominica&rsquo;s Olympic champion Thea LaFond produced the best women&rsquo;s triple jump performance in the world for almost four years in Zagreb recently as she soared a national record of 15.25m to win by almost half a metre ahead of Cuba&rsquo;s world champion Leyanis P&eacute;rez Hern&aacute;ndez. They clash again in a quality contest that also features Davisleydi Velazco, who jumped 15.13m last month, and world indoor bronze medallist Saly Sarr.
Italy&rsquo;s world champion Mattia Furlani is set to make his return after the injury he sustained during the Diamond League meeting in Xiamen and he is not easing himself back in gently as he goes up against all five men who sit ahead of him on this season&rsquo;s world long jump top list: world leader Simon Ehammer, who jumped 8.51m during the decathlon at G&ouml;tzis, plus two-time Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou, world indoor champion Gerson Bald&eacute;, world indoor bronze medallist Bozhidar Sar&acirc;boyukov and 19-year-old Jorge Hodel&iacute;n who set a world U20 record of 8.46m last month.
Since throwing 71.74m in Xiamen to move to second on the world javelin all-time list, China&rsquo;s 18-year-old Yan Ziyi has clinched two more Diamond League meeting wins in Oslo and Paris and is the athlete to beat in Monaco. Looking to challenge her are Japan&rsquo;s Olympic champion Haruka Kitaguchi and Sigrid Borge, who sits second on the season top list with her 65.00m throw for the runner-up spot in Xiamen.
In the high jump, Ukraine&rsquo;s Oleh Doroshchuk, who recently jumped an outdoor PB of 2.33m, faces Jan &Scaron;tefela, Kimani Jack and Sarvesh Anil Kushare, who have all also surpassed 2.30m this year, plus multiple global champions Mutaz Barshim and Gianmarco Tamberi, the latter a late entry.

Star clashes fill every moment in Monaco

Meeting records by Jamal Britt, Masai Russell and Nikki Hiltz were among the highlights as fierce battles and breakthroughs lit up the Prefontaine Classic, this season&rsquo;s ninth Wanda Diamond League meeting, in Eugene, USA, on Saturday (4).
The competition closed with mile wins by Hiltz and Cameron Myers, while teenager Tate Taylor won the 200m on his Diamond League debut and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden took top spot in a stacked 100m. Tara Davis-Woodhall won a competitive long jump contest and Leonardo Fabbri launched a world lead in the shot put.
USA&rsquo;s Britt continued his fantastic run of form in the 110m hurdles by breaking the meeting record with a PB of 12.86 (1.8m/s) &ndash; a performance that moves him to fifth on the world all-time list.
With a strong finish, he passed recent world record-breaker Ja'Kobe Tharp &ndash; who sits top of that all-time list with the 12.75 he clocked during the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field last month &ndash; to win by 0.05.
It is Britt&rsquo;s fourth race under 13 seconds this season and it improves on the PB of 12.89 he set to win at the Diamond League meeting in Paris. He becomes the third athlete in history to ever dip under 12.90 more than once. Tharp, meanwhile, achieved the third-fastest time of his career behind his two NCAA races last month.
USA&rsquo;s Olympic champion Russell also impressed as she matched the meeting record to win the 100m hurdles, clocking 12.24 (0.8m/s) &ndash; the fifth-fastest time of her career.
She beat Nigeria&rsquo;s Tobi Amusan by a tenth of a second &ndash; Amusan back on the track on which she set her world record of 12.12 in 2022, a mark that Russell was just 0.02 shy of in Xiamen in May. Former world record-holder Kendra Harrison, who set the Eugene meeting record in 2016, was also in action and finished eighth in 12.66.
Kayinsola Ajayi won the non-Diamond League 100m, three weeks on from his NCAA title victory on the same track. This time the 21-year-old clocked 9.84 (0.1m/s) to equal his own Nigerian record, getting a great start and maintaining his advantage to beat Jamaica&rsquo;s world champion Oblique Seville who clocked 9.89.
Tate Taylor also continued his winning ways at Hayward Field &ndash; the venue that will host the World U20 Championships in August. The 18-year-old won a 100m and 200m double at the US U20 Championships last month and followed that with a statement 200m win against strong senior opposition on his Diamond League debut &ndash; improving his PB to 19.75 (-0.9m/s) to move to third on the world U20 all-time list.
Botswana&rsquo;s Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo finished fast but he couldn&rsquo;t catch Taylor and had to settle for second place in 19.93. Makanakaishe Charamba was third in 20.11.

Triple world champion Jefferson-Wooden retained her Prefontaine Classic 100m crown, beating 2023 world champion Sha'Carri Richardson by just 0.01 in 10.78 (0.0m/s). World leader Adaejah Hodge was another 0.01 back in third.
Collen Kebinatshipi narrowly beat Rai Benjamin in a 400m clash between reigning world champions &ndash; Botswana&rsquo;s world 400m gold medallist Kebinatshipi clocking 44.00 to edge USA&rsquo;s 400m hurdles star Benjamin by 0.11, the latter, running from lane nine, clocking a PB for the flat one-lap event.&nbsp;
<h2>Mile wins for Hiltz and Myers</h2>
USA&rsquo;s two-time world indoor medallist Nikki Hiltz kicked to victory in the mile, winning in a world-leading meeting record of 4:17.49 as Faith Kipyegon was beaten in either a 1500m or mile race for the first time in more than five years.
Hiltz held off world silver medallist Dorcus Ewoi, who clocked a PB of 4:17.62 for second place, while world record-holder and multiple global gold medallist Kipyegon was third in 4:17.80. Kipyegon later explained how she had been dealing with a hamstring injury since the Diamond League meeting in Shanghai, where she won the promotional 5000m in 14:24.14.
Australia&rsquo;s Cameron Myers ran an Oceanian record of 3:46.06 to win the Bowerman Mile, judging his race to perfection to finish clear ahead of Yared Nuguse (3:46.61) and Ethan Strand (3:46.97) as the top seven all dipped under 3:48.
A fierce 800m fight between the world champion and the Olympic champion was won by Kenya&rsquo;s Lilian Odira as she overpowered Great Britain&rsquo;s Keely Hodgkinson in the closing stages &ndash; 1:56.19 to 1:56.73. Olympic champion Hodgkinson &ndash; who was racing with cut knees and strapping following a fall the day before she flew to the US &ndash; held back as the race got off to a fast start and then she moved to the fore. But Odira was waiting for her moment to strike and the world champion kicked past her rival down the home straight to clinch her first Diamond League victory.
Kenya&rsquo;s world champion Faith Cherotich strode to a clear win in the 3000m steeplechase, moving away from Bahrain&rsquo;s Olympic champion Winfred Yavi in the closing stages to triumph in 8:51.74. Yavi was second in 8:52.84, while Marwa Bouzayani was third in a Tunisian record of 8:54.32. Doris Lemngole also dipped under nine minutes, running a PB of 8:57.89 &ndash; the best ever time for fourth place.
The women&rsquo;s two miles was won by Ethiopia&rsquo;s Aleshign Baweke in 9:20.02.
<h2>Fabbri throws 22.74m</h2>
Italy&rsquo;s Leonardo Fabbri had the shot put won with his opening throw. The two-time world medallist, who threw 22.50m in February, improved to 22.74m in Eugene and his rivals had no response. He eventually won by 58 centimetres ahead of Olympic bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell who threw 22.16m, also in the first round.
The women&rsquo;s shot put was also won with an opening throw, USA&rsquo;s two-time world gold medallist Chase Jackson managing 20.56m from her first attempt to win ahead of world champion and world leader Jessica Schilder (20.11m).
Lithuania&rsquo;s world discus record-holder Mykolas Alekna opened his Diamond League campaign after injury with a win, throwing 71.06m in the fifth round to beat 2022 world champion Kristjan Čeh with 69.94m.
China&rsquo;s world bronze medallist Zhang Jiale, who threw a world U20 record of 77.24m last year, improved her PB to 77.94m to win the hammer &ndash; that mark moving the 19-year-old to 10th on the world all-time list. Canada&rsquo;s Olympic and two-time world champion Camryn Rogers led the contest until that final-round effort by Zhang and finished second with her opening attempt of 77.81m.
The top two in the women&rsquo;s long jump were separated by a single centimetre. Larissa Iapichino added one centimetre to the Italian record held by her mother, Fiona May, since 1998 &ndash; jumping 7.12m (1.8m/s) in the first round. But USA&rsquo;s Olympic and world champion Tara Davis-Woodhall responded with 7.13m (0.8m/s) in the next round and that clinched her the win. Monae' Nichols also surpassed seven metres with a wind-aided 7.05m (3.0m/s) for third place.

<h2>Meeting record for Katzberg</h2>
A series of non-Diamond League contests kicked off the Prefontaine Classic on Friday (3) as the meeting was held over two days to coincide with Fourth of July celebrations.
The first day&rsquo;s action was headlined by Ethan Katzberg&rsquo;s hammer win as Canada&rsquo;s Olympic and two-time world champion threw a meeting record of 83.33m in the second round, achieving the fourth-best winning mark of his career. All four of his valid throws in Eugene surpassed 80 metres. Rudy Winkler was second with 81.12m.
USA&rsquo;s Sandi Morris won the pole vault (4.85m), while Valarie Sion won the discus (68.64m).
Brandon Miller won the 800m ahead of Cooper Lutkenhaus, 1:43.68 to 1:44.82, while Parker Wolfe clinched two-mile victory (8:10.13).

Records fall as top-class clashes light up Eugene

The fields for the Prefontaine Classic are packed with star quality as global podium rematches and clashes between some of the all-time best look set to light up Hayward Field on Friday and Saturday (3-4).
US aces Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, Ja'Kobe Tharp, Masai Russell and Tara Davis-Woodhall will be joined in Eugene by the likes of global gold medallists Faith Kipyegon, Letsile Tebogo, Collen Kebinatshipi and Keely Hodgkinson when the Wanda Diamond League hits Eugene for its ninth stop of the season.
The Diamond League action takes place on Saturday, when triple world champion Jefferson-Wooden will defend her 100m title against a field of fellow major medallists.
The 25-year-old clocked 10.75 to win at Hayward Field last year before completing a 100m, 200m and 4x100m title treble at the World Championships in Tokyo. The 10.61 she ran in Tokyo makes her the fourth-fastest sprinter of all time and she has not been beaten over 100m since the Olympic final in Paris in 2024, when she got bronze behind Julien Alfred and Sha'Carri Richardson.
Richardson, the 2023 world champion and 2024 winner at the Prefontaine Classic, is among Jefferson-Wooden&rsquo;s rivals in Eugene, where athletes will contest 100m heats before the final. Both Richardson and Jefferson-Wooden have dipped under 10.90 already this season, as have two-time world 200m champion Shericka Jackson, world 100m silver medallist Tina Clayton and world leader Adaejah Hodge. Adding further strength to the fields are Dina Asher-Smith, Tia Clayton, Shawnti Jackson, Favour Ofili and Amy Hunt.

The men&rsquo;s 100m is not a Diamond League event but it pits the top two in the world so far this year &ndash; Jamaica&rsquo;s world champion Oblique Seville and NCAA champion Kanyinsola Ajayi &ndash; against two-time Olympic and world 200m silver medallist Kenny Bednarek.

Ja'Kobe Tharp returns to the scene of his 110m hurdles world record. The US 20-year-old clocked 12.75 during the heats at the NCAA Championships, taking 0.05 off the world record set by Aries Merritt in 2012, and now prepares for the second Diamond League of his career. After finishing third in Monaco last year behind Trey Cunningham and Cordell Tinch, Tharp will again face Tinch &ndash; now lining up as the world champion &ndash; as well as Jamal Britt, who won the Paris Diamond League in 12.89, and world silver medallist Orlando Bennett.
USA&rsquo;s Olympic champion Masai Russell edged closer to the world 100m hurdles record at the Diamond League meeting in Xiamen, her 12.14 just two hundredths of a second off the 12.12 set by Nigeria&rsquo;s Tobi Amusan in Oregon in 2022. The two meet again in Eugene, as part of a field in which all nine athletes have PBs of 12.37 or faster &ndash; that being the time achieved by world 60m hurdles record-holder Devynne Charlton when finishing third behind Russell and Amusan in Xiamen. They line up alongside former world record-holder Keni Harrison, two-time world champion Danielle Williams, world bronze medallist Grace Stark and last year&rsquo;s Diamond League champion Ackera Nugent.
The men&rsquo;s 400m brings together two reigning world champions &ndash; Botswana&rsquo;s Collen Kebinatshipi and USA&rsquo;s 400m hurdles star Rai Benjamin &ndash; against Khaleb McRae, Jacory Patterson and Michael Norman, who won his world title in Eugene in 2022.&nbsp;Kebinatshipi ran 43.54 to win the Diamond League in Paris, just 0.01 off the PB he set when winning his world title.
<h2>Kipyegon back on world record track</h2>
Like Tharp, Kenya&rsquo;s Faith Kipyegon also returns to the track on which she set a world record. The five-time world and three-time Olympic champion set the most recent of her world records &ndash; 3:48.68 for 1500m &ndash; during last year&rsquo;s Prefontaine Classic and she returns to contest the mile, the event in which she has held the world record of 4:07.64 since 2023.
The event brings together all the 1500m medallists from the last World Championships and Olympic Games &ndash; Dorcus Ewoi and Jess Hull, who joined Kipyegon on the podium in Tokyo, plus Great Britain&rsquo;s Georgia Hunter Bell, who got Olympic bronze behind Kipyegon and Hull in Paris and went on to clinch world 800m silver in Tokyo between Lilian Odira and Keely Hodgkinson.
Odira and Hodgkinson are also in action in Eugene and they go head-to-head over two laps &ndash; world champion against Olympic champion. Both are on the hunt for their first Diamond League wins of the season, Hodgkinson after having finished second to Audrey Werro in a national record of 1:54.33 in Stockholm.
Four of the six fastest women of all time clash in the 3000m steeplechase. Bahrain&rsquo;s Olympic champion Winfred Yavi, who sits second on that all-time list with her 9:44.39 from 2024, renews her rivalry with world champion Faith Cherotich, Tokyo Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai and Norah Jeruto, the world champion in Eugene in 2022. Emma Coburn, the 2017 champion, makes it four world gold medallists in the field.
The two-mile race features Ethiopia&rsquo;s two-time world U20 cross-country champion Marta Alemayo and her compatriots Hirut Meshesha and Aleshign Baweke.
The men&rsquo;s Bowerman Mile closes the programme on Saturday and stars USA&rsquo;s Olympic 1500m and world 5000m champion Cole Hocker against Diamond League 1500m champion Niels Laros, back to defend his title. Laros won last year ahead of Yared Nuguse, Azeddine Habz, Hocker, Reynold Cheruiyot, Cameron Myers and Timothy Cheruiyot, and they all clash again.
<h2>Big shots in the field</h2>
The women&rsquo;s shot put hosts another gathering of global champions as Dutch world champion Jessica Schilder takes on Olympic champion Yemisi Mabry, two-time world gold medallist Chase Jackson and two-time world indoor champion Sarah Mitton. Schilder leads the way so far this season with the 21.09m Diamond League record she set in Shanghai.
The men&rsquo;s shot put brings together the leading seven athletes on the season top list, two-time world champion Joe Kovacs currently at the head of that list after his 22.58m to win in Rabat. Two-time world medallist Leonardo Fabbri has thrown 22.50m this season, while Olympic bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell sits just behind them on 22.44m. Also in action are Tom Walsh, Jordan Geist, Roger Steen and Chuk Enekwechi.
USA&rsquo;s Olympic and world champion Tara Davis-Woodhall soared a PB of 7.20m in LA last month and heads a long jump field featuring Alexis Brown and Alyssa Jones, who have also surpassed seven metres this season, plus two-time Diamond League champion Larissa Iapichino and two-time world champion Malaika Mihambo.
The world record-holders star in both the men&rsquo;s discus and the women&rsquo;s hammer. Mykolas Alekna, who improved his world discus record to 75.56m in Ramona last year, opens his Diamond League campaign after injury against 2022 world champion Kristjan Čeh, who won in Shanghai, and three-time world champion Daniel Stahl, the victor in Stockholm, plus Olympic champion Roj&eacute; Stona and bronze medallist Matthew Denny.
In the non-Diamond League hammer, Anita Włodarczyk competes in a field led by Olympic and world champion Camryn Rogers &ndash; a line-up that stars the athletes to have claimed the last four Olympic titles and last seven world titles. World leader Rogers, who threw 81.13m in April, and Włodarczyk are joined by Brooke Andersen and DeAnna Price. This is another event that brings together all the medallists from Tokyo and Paris, as world medallists Zhao Jie and Zhang Jiale are entered, along with Annette Echikunwoke, who got Olympic bronze between Rogers and Zhao.
The men&rsquo;s hammer, starring Olympic and world champion Ethan Katzberg, kicks off the non-Diamond League action on Friday. World leader Valarie Sion, the world and two-time Olympic champion, goes in the discus, while the pole vault features twin sisters Hana and Amanda Moll, who have respectively cleared 4.88m and 4.84m this year, plus three-time world champion Katie Moon.&nbsp;
USA&rsquo;s 17-year-old world indoor champion Cooper Lutkenhaus ran 1:42.08 to win in Oslo and will be on the hunt for his third outdoor 800m win in a row after also clinching victory in Stockholm, while double Olympic bronze medallist Grant Fisher races the two mile event.

Global champions and world record-holders star across stacked fields for Eugene

Audrey Werro, Collen Kebinatshipi and Marileidy Paulino all broke Diamond League records at the Meeting de Paris on Sunday (28), as the Wanda Diamond League reached its midway point.
A heatwave across most of France had put the meeting in doubt, but thankfully the elite disciplines were able to go ahead. And once the competition got underway, the performances rose to match the conditions.
Werro continued her superb run of form to win a remarkable women&rsquo;s 800m in 1:53.80 &ndash; the third-fastest time in history.
The pacemaker led through the first lap in 55.35, with Werro just a few strides behind in about 55.8. The Swiss athlete took up the running at 500m, with two-time world 400m hurdles champion Femke Broeders-Bol and Ana&iuml;s Bourgoin battling for position behind her as Werro passed 600m in 1:25.27.
Bourgoin moved into second with 100 metres to go, but Broeders-Bol fought back down the home straight as Werro pulled clear to achieve a historic victory, becoming the first woman to break 1:54 on more than one occasion.
&ldquo;I wasn&rsquo;t expecting to be running so fast this season,&rdquo; said Werro, who also won in Stockholm earlier this month in 1:53.98. &ldquo;I feel that the biggest change in my life is the fact that I have become a professional athlete. I am no longer at school, and I must say it was tough to juggle both activities. Now, there is no excuse as I have all the time in the world to just focus on training, recovering, and the sport itself.&rdquo;
Broeders-Bol finished second in a PB of 1:55.60, moving to 24th on the world all-time list and just 0.06 shy of Ellen van Langen&rsquo;s Dutch record. Bourgoin was third in a French record of 1:55.65, while Prudence Sekgodiso was fourth in 1:56.83 and Renelle Lamote fifth in 1:56.93. Australia&rsquo;s Sarah Billings set an Oceanian record of 1:57.01 in sixth, with all of the top six setting PBs.
Just moments earlier, Kebinatshipi broke the men&rsquo;s 400m Diamond League record, clocking 43.54 to win a high-quality race.
Olympic silver medallist Matthew Hudson-Smith led into the home straight but Kebinatshipi timed his finish to perfection as the versatile sprinter from Botswana charged through the line.
The world champion&rsquo;s time was just 0.01 shy of the PB he set when winning his global title and took 0.06 off the previous Diamond League record set by Michael Norman in 2022. South Africa&rsquo;s Zakithi Nene finished second in 43.89, with USA&rsquo;s Chris Bailey third in 44.06. Hudson-Smith faded to fourth in a season&rsquo;s best of 44.09.
Paulino completed the trio of Diamond League records in the women&rsquo;s 400m. The Olympic champion moved up a gear with 150 metres to go and powered away to win in 48.48.
It was the third-fastest clocking of Paulino&rsquo;s career, behind only the times she ran at the 2024 Olympic Games and 2025 World Championships, and it took 0.09 off the Diamond League record set by Nickisha Pryce in 2024. World indoor champion Lurdes Gloria Manuel finished second in 49.37, with Stacey Ann Williams third in 49.51 and Lieke Klaver fourth in 49.97.
<h2>Meeting records broken and threatened</h2>
Mondo Duplantis also added a record-breaking performance to the evening, clearing 6.13m to break his own Meeting de Paris pole vault record from 2021.
The world record-holder needed just three jumps to secure victory, clearing each height on his first attempt. He was the only athlete to go clear at 6.03m, and then went 10 centimetres higher. He ended his series with three attempts at a would-be world record of 6.32m, but the Swede was more than happy to return to winning ways after his surprise recent defeat in Stockholm. France&rsquo;s Baptiste Thiery finished second with 5.93m.
Jamal Britt produced another standout performance in the men&rsquo;s 110m hurdles, coming from behind to win in 12.89 (0.8m/s), moving him to equal eighth on the world all-time list. Japan&rsquo;s Shunsuke Izumiya came through for second in 13.01, ahead of Trey Cunningham (13.07).
Marco Arop dominated the men&rsquo;s 800m. The 2023 world champion went through the first lap in about 50 seconds, then moved up a gear and opened a huge lead on the rest of the field. He faded only in the final 40 metres, but still won by almost two seconds in a world-leading 1:41.84, the third-fastest time of his career.
Niels Laros finished second in a PB of 1:43.60, with Tobias Gronstad third in 1:43.63.
Less than three weeks after turning 20, Cameron Myers impressed in the men&rsquo;s 1500m to break the Oceanian record with a world-leading 3:28.00.
The Australian began a long run for home at 1000m, then dropped Azeddine Habz with 200 metres to go before winning by almost two seconds. Habz finished second in 3:29.80, with 2022 world champion Jake Wightman third in a season&rsquo;s best of 3:29.95.
Tobi Amusan came through over the final three barriers to win the women&rsquo;s 100m hurdles in 12.28 (0.7m/s). Grace Stark was second in 12.38 and Alaysha Johnson third in 12.39. Nadine Visser led during the first half of the race but faded to fourth in 12.41, with the top five women all setting season&rsquo;s bests.
World indoor champion Georgia Hunter Bell once again showed impressive tactical awareness to win the women&rsquo;s 1500m in 3:55.63, just 0.07 shy of the world lead.
Jessica Hull followed the pacemaker through the first half, then held the lead after the pacemaker stepped aside with 600 metres remaining. Freweyni Hailu closed the gap, with Hunter Bell and Agathe Guillemot also breaking away from the rest of the field by the bell.
Hailu took the lead with 250 metres to go, but Hunter Bell responded and moved ahead with 150 metres remaining before going on to win. Hailu was second in 3:55.92, while Guillemot set a French record of 3:56.24 in third. Hull finished fourth in a season&rsquo;s best of 3:57.22.
<h2>Bromell takes 100m, Fisher wins 5000m</h2>
Trayvon Bromell won the men&rsquo;s 100m from lane eight, clocking a season&rsquo;s best of 9.91 (0.1m/s). Noah Lyles was second in 9.92, with 2021 Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs third in a season&rsquo;s best of 9.96.
The men&rsquo;s 5000m had originally been billed as an attempt on the European record by world 10,000m champion Jimmy Gressier, but the pack fell off the desired pace in the early laps and the focus shifted to the race for victory.
Final pacemaker Etienne Daguinos led through 3000m in 7:46.27, by which time the main pack was almost 30 metres behind, but a large group was still in contention at the bell. In the closing stages, USA&rsquo;s Grant Fisher emerged from the pack to win in 12:54.80 from Kenya&rsquo;s Jacob Krop (12:55.22) and Andreas Almgren (12:55.38). Burundi&rsquo;s Egide Ntakarutimana set a national record of 12:56.06 in fourth, while Gressier faded to seventh in 12:57.79.
In the men&rsquo;s 3000m steeplechase, four athletes were still in contention at the bell: African champion Gemechu Godana, Edmund Serem, Samuel Firewu and Karl Bebendorf. Bebendorf kicked with 200 metres to go and went on to win in a PB of 8:05.55, moving to second on the German all-time list behind Frederik Ruppert, who broke the European record earlier this year. Godana, contesting his first steeplechase outside Africa, held on for second in 8:05.86, a PB by nine seconds.
Angelica Moser won the women&rsquo;s pole vault with 4.77m. Eliza McCartney had led up to and including 4.70m with first-time clearances, but couldn&rsquo;t get over 4.77m. Olympic champion Nina Kennedy was third, also with 4.70m. Moser had one attempt at 4.90m but lost her grip and had an awkward fall, so opted not to take any further attempts.
In the women&rsquo;s javelin, Yan Ziyi threw 67.44m in the first round, a mark that proved enough to win by almost four metres. She had one other measured throw, 60.52m in the third round, then passed her final three attempts.
Sarah Mitton won a close women&rsquo;s shot put contest with 19.99m, finishing ahead of Olympic champion Yemisi Mabry, who threw 19.93m, and world leader Jessica Schilder, who reached 19.88m.

Werro, Kebinatshipi and Paulino break Diamond League records in Paris

Mondo Duplantis will return to Paris for the first time since winning his second Olympic pole vault title when he competes at the Meeting de Paris on Sunday (28), the eighth of 15 Wanda Diamond League meetings this season.
The Swedish world record-holder heads back to the French capital looking to reassert himself after a rare defeat at the Stockholm Diamond League earlier this month. Before that competition, Duplantis had won 41 consecutive pole vault contests, building one of the most dominant streaks in the sport.
Paris now offers an opportunity for the multiple world and Olympic champion to respond on a stage filled with happy memories. It was in the French capital two years ago that he won his second Olympic gold, doing so with a world record height of 6.25m.
Duplantis, who has since increased his world record to 6.31m, now returns to Paris to face a field that includes the full top 12 from the world rankings and all medallists from the three most recent global championships.
Australia&rsquo;s Kurtis Marschall, the man who beat Duplantis in Stockholm, is again in the line-up. So too are the two men who joined Duplantis on the Olympic podium in 2024, Sam Kendricks and Emmanouil Karalis. Karalis and Marschall, meanwhile, were podium finishers behind Duplantis at both the 2025 World Championships and 2026 World Indoor Championships.
Audrey Werro heads to Paris in the form of her life following a series of outstanding performances. The Swiss athlete clocked a world-leading 1:53.98 to win the 800m in Stockholm, then followed it with a 1:54.45 victory in Hengelo. Earlier this week she also recorded a European 600m best of 1:22.85.
In Paris, Werro takes on Femke Broeders-Bol, who will contest her first 800m in a Diamond League race. The two-time world 400m hurdles champion has made an impressive start to life over two laps, finishing second to Werro in Hengelo in a PB of 1:57.16 before producing a dominant 1:57.41 victory in Ostrava.
Others in the field include Australia&rsquo;s Sarah Billings, 2025 world indoor champion Prudence Sekgodiso and Botswana&rsquo;s Oratile Nowe.
Noah Lyles will also make his first competition appearance in Paris since winning Olympic 100m gold in the French capital in 2024.
The US sprinter, recently named as an Ultimate Star for the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, is undefeated outdoors this year. He won the 100m at the Rome Diamond League in 9.88, then set a world best of 14.67 for 150m at the Golden Spike in Ostrava.
In Paris, Lyles takes on world indoor champion Jordan Anthony, 2021 Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs, Kenya&rsquo;s Ferdinand Omanyala, South Africa&rsquo;s Akani Simbine and USA&rsquo;s Trayvon Bromell.
Jimmy Gressier will carry strong home hopes in the men&rsquo;s 5000m.
The world 10,000m champion contests his first 5000m of the season, fresh from setting a French 3000m record of 7:28.67 in Montreuil last week. He faces a loaded field that includes Ethiopia&rsquo;s Addisu Yihune, winner of the Oslo Diamond League in a world-leading 12:47.62, and Asian record-holder Birhanu Balew, who was a close second in Oslo.
World 10,000m bronze medallist Andreas Almgren, USA&rsquo;s double Olympic bronze medallist Grant Fisher and steeplechase world record-holder Lamecha Girma are also in the field.
<h2>Olympic podium reunites over 400m</h2>
The men&rsquo;s 400m brings together the full Olympic podium, with Quincy Hall, Matthew Hudson-Smith and Muzala Samukonga all set to race.
They will be joined by the top two finishers from the 2025 World Championships, Collen Kebinatshipi and Jereem Richards, as well as USA&rsquo;s 2025 world indoor champion Chris Bailey and South Africa&rsquo;s Zakithi Nene.
Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino heads the women&rsquo;s 400m field after her 48.91 victory at the Doha Diamond League. She faces world indoor champion Lurdes Gloria Manuel and Olympic bronze medallist Natalia Bukowiecka.
The men&rsquo;s 110m hurdles features six athletes with sub-13-second PBs, three of whom have achieved that feat this year: Trey Cunningham, Jamal Britt and Kendrick Smallwood. Japanese record-holder Rachid Muratake and in-form Cuban Kendry Menendez are also in the line-up.
The women&rsquo;s 100m hurdles is similarly stacked. World record-holder Tobi Amusan faces world champion Ditaji Kambundji, three-time world indoor champion Devynne Charlton, former world record-holder Kendra Harrison, world bronze medallist Grace Stark, Olympic silver medallist Cyrena Samba-Mayela, Jamaican champion Demisha Roswell and Dutch record-holder Nadine Visser.

Emma Zapletalov&aacute; and Marileidy Paulino impressed over one lap of the track in Doha, setting meeting records in the 400m hurdles and 400m, respectively, during the Wanda Diamond League meeting on Friday (19).
Zapletalov&aacute;&rsquo;s 52.30 improved her own world-leading Slovakian record and moved her to sixth on the world 400m hurdles all-time list. World leads were also set in both triple jump contests, Davisleydi Velazco joining the 15-metre club and Pedro Pichardo making a statement on his season debut.&nbsp;
Zapletalov&aacute; has had a sensational season so far. The world bronze medallist is unbeaten in her specialism this year and after wins in Rabat, Rome and Oslo, she clinched her fourth consecutive Diamond League victory in her quickest time yet &ndash; 52.30 &ndash; to become the sixth-fastest women&rsquo;s 400m hurdler in history.
On a hot evening in Qatar's capital, the 26-year-old judged her race to perfection and won by three-quarters of a second ahead of Jamaica&rsquo;s Rushell Clayton.
&ldquo;I am very happy with my new personal best and national record,&rdquo; said Zapletalov&aacute;. &ldquo;I am also satisfied that I did it as we planned with my coach.&rdquo;
Dominican Republic&rsquo;s Olympic champion Paulino also dominated her event, smashing Allyson Felix&rsquo;s 18-year-old 400m meeting record by almost a second on her Diamond League season debut. Catapulting herself off the final bend, she stormed away from her rivals down the home straight to win in 48.91. Olympic bronze medallist Natalia Bukowiecka chased her over the finish line in 50.10, while Roxana G&oacute;mez was third in 50.23.
<h2>Velazco joins 15-metre club, Pichardo wins close contest</h2>
Cuba&rsquo;s Velazco soared into the 15-metre club, winning the women&rsquo;s triple jump with a world-leading PB of 15.13m (1.3m/s). With that fifth-round leap, the 26-year-old surpassed the wind-assisted 14.97m (2.5m/s) achieved in the second round by her compatriot Leyanis P&eacute;rez Hern&aacute;ndez, the world and two-time world indoor champion, to secure her second consecutive Diamond League victory after her win in Oslo.&nbsp;
Improving her PB by 28 centimetres, Velazco achieved the farthest leap in the world since 2023 and her series also included jumps of 14.97m &ndash; which had matched the lead &ndash; and 14.69m. P&eacute;rez Hern&aacute;ndez backed up her wind-aided mark with a wind-legal 14.93m (1.5m/s), just five centimetres off her PB. In a quality contest, Senegal's world indoor bronze medallist Saly Sarr jumped a PB of 14.86m for third place.

Portugal&rsquo;s two-time world champion Pichardo won a close battle between global medallists in the men&rsquo;s triple jump, leaping a world lead of 17.71m (0.4m/s) to triumph by two centimetres ahead of Jamaica&rsquo;s Jordan Scott. The top three were separated by only four centimetres, Yasser Triki improving his own Algerian record to 17.67m (0.4m/s).
Scott, the world indoor silver medallist, improved his PB to 17.69m (1.7m/s) from his opening attempt &ndash; a mark he matched in the fourth round &ndash; but Pichardo, in his first competition since winning world gold in Tokyo in September, responded with 17.71m in the second round to take the lead. Triki&rsquo;s national record came in the fourth round, improving on his previous best of 17.43m set at the Tokyo Olympics.
Greece&rsquo;s Emmanouil Karalis won the pole vault on countback. The world silver medallist, No.2 on the world all-time list thanks to his 6.17m clearance from February, this time managed a best of 5.92m on his second try &ndash; a height also cleared by Chris Nilsen and Sondre Guttormsen on their third attempts.
<h2>Sprint success for Dambile and Nelson</h2>
South Africa&rsquo;s Sinesipho Dambile has improved with each of his Diamond League races this season, following his third place in Rabat and runner-up finishes in Stockholm and Oslo with a 200m win in a PB of 19.74 (1.8m/s) in Doha. Zimbabwe&rsquo;s Makanakaishe Charamba was second in 19.88, matching his PB, while Alexander Ogando also dipped under 20 seconds, clocking 19.96.

Jamaica&rsquo;s Kemba Nelson won the 100m &ndash; her first Diamond League victory &ndash; after a storming second half to her race. She strode away from her rivals and crossed the finish line in a wind-assisted 10.88 (2.5m/s) ahead of world indoor champion Zaynab Dosso (11.01) and Patrizia van der Weken (11.05).
World champion Cordell Tinch maintained his composure to win a 110m hurdles contest full of knocked barriers. Jamal Britt and Kendry Men&eacute;ndez started well but as they hit a few hurdles, USA&rsquo;s Tinch moved through the field to win in 13.23 (1.4m/s). Asier Mart&iacute;nez secured second place in 13.27 and Thomas Wilkes was third in a PB of 13.28.
USA&rsquo;s world indoor bronze medallist Addison Wiley held off a strong challenge from Olympic silver medallist Tsige Duguma in the 800m to win her first Diamond League race &ndash; 1:57.98 to 1:58.08. Halimah Nakaayi was third in 1:58.41.
Ethiopia&rsquo;s Birke Haylom dominated the 1500m, following her Diamond League win in Shanghai with another victory in 3:59.89. Saron Berhe closed the gap slightly in the closing stages but was still a couple of seconds back, securing the runner-up spot in 4:02.61. Haregeweyni Kalayu completed an Ethiopian top three in 4:03.56 and Germany&rsquo;s two-time world 3000m steeplechase bronze medallist Gesa Felicitas Krause ran a PB of 4:04.28 for fourth place.
Ethiopia&rsquo;s Medina Eisa held off her compatriot Likina Amebaw, the world leader, to win the 5000m. They both managed to stay out of trouble during a last lap that saw Fantaye Belayneh and Asayech Ayichew fall, Eisa reaching the finish line in 14:53.91, a couple of strides ahead of Amebaw (14:54.37). Marta Alemayo, the two-time world U20 cross-country champion, was third in 14:55.65.
Morocco&rsquo;s two-time Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali won the 3000m steeplechase, maintaining his unbeaten season in 8:09.28 after his Diamond League wins in Rabat and Stockholm. Samuel Firewu was second in 8:10.44 and Daniel Arce was third in 8:13.35.
Sri Lanka&rsquo;s world leader Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage won the javelin by more than two metres, throwing 88.68m to beat two-time world champion Anderson Peters (86.38m). Pathirage now has the top five winning marks of the season.
Italy&rsquo;s world U20 silver medallist Matteo Sioli soared to his second Diamond League victory in the high jump, following his win on home soil in Rome with a 2.29m clearance to triumph again. Home favourite Mutaz Barshim was second on 2.27m.
