Getting ready for her first IAAF World Indoor Championships while lending her celebrity status to helping the children of earthquake ravaged Haiti, February was a busy month on and off the track for World and Olympic champion Veronica Campbell Brown.

“Goodbye February, hello March and hello again to my fans and readers.

“I am still battling the cold weather here in Georgia as the east coast of USA experiences one of its worst winters in over a decade.

“Despite this however, I press on as I prepare for the World Indoors in Doha, Qatar.

“Doha will represent my first ever appearance at an IAAF World Indoor Championships and I look forward to the experience. I have competed sparingly indoors with my last race being on February 26th in New York. I ran 7.14 so now it is finishing touches then off to the gulf region.

“I recently, as UNESCO Champion for Sports, made a special UNESCO televised appeal for donations in order to have Haitian children settled back into school.

“I am hoping that this initiative will meet with good success as the children of this devastated country need all the support we can extend.

“February also gave us Valentine’s Day. I was awaken on that day by the drug testers, now that was not so LOVE-ly (LOL), however, I understand that it’s a part of the sport I compete in.

“Omar and I exchanged gifts then later that evening went to our favorite restaurant in Atlanta for dinner. Apparently, my manager and his wife were also there, however, we never saw each other.

“I must say he has good culinary taste (LOL)!

“Until next time”
