FacebookTwitterEmail

The World AntiDoping Agency (WADA), have released their formal report following the Independent Observers visit to the 2005 Helsinki World Championships.

The Independent Observer (IO) program helps enhance athlete and public confidence at major events by randomly monitoring and reporting on all phases of the doping control and results management processes in a neutral and unbiased manner.  Noting the tremendous importance of the IAAF doping control program, and the need for transparency in this work, the IAAF invited WADA to send a team to observe all aspects of the program implemented during the 2005 World Championships.

The IAAF welcomes the positive feedback of the review, particularly regarding the size and ambitious nature of the IAAF doping control program during the championships.  The IAAF will also carefully evaluate all recommendations made by the Independent Observers team, and if appropriate, make changes so as to ensure best anti-doping practice continue at future IAAF Competitions.
