Romania has harvested three gold medals in this event at past IAAF World Youth Championships and the East European nation will have high hopes that Georgina Iuliana Anitei can secure title number four.
The 16-year-old, who is also a medal prospect in the long jump, has all the credentials to take top spot on the podium.
She is a consistent jumper beyond 13 metres with an outdoor best mark of 13.31m and an impressive indoor best of 13.60m.
Anitei, however, faces some strong opposition led by Cuba’s Yanna Anna Armenteros, whose 13.49m leap back in February leads the outdoor lists for 2015.
Others prominent entrants include Kazakhstan’s Asian youth champion Mariya Ovchinnikova (best of 13.11m), Russia’s Alisa Kuznetsova (13.04m) and France’s Ilionis Guillaume (13.00m).
