World Athletics has launched an invitation to tender (ITT) for the provision, installation and removal of temporary seating and overlay structures at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, host venue for the World Athletics Ultimate Championship on 11-13 September 2026.
The ITT seeks experienced overlay and temporary seating contractors to deliver solutions that will enhance the spectator atmosphere, media facilities and hospitality areas in the stadium. The scope of works includes the design, supply, installation, maintenance and dismantling of temporary spectator seating, VIP seating, press and commentary facilities, and athlete lounge seating across the concourse levels of the venue.
The Ultimate Championship is a new flagship competition designed to bring together the world’s best athletes in a compact, three-day format. Featuring approximately 400 athletes from more than 70 countries and a prize fund of US$10 million, the event will mark a major innovation in the international athletics calendar.
Key dates in the tender process are as follows:
- 17 October 2025 (12:00 CEST): Deadline for expressions of interest, including company presentation, case studies, references and due diligence questionnaire.
- 21 October 2025: Notification of shortlisted tenderers.
- 5 November 2025 (12:00 CET): Deadline for submission of clarification questions.
- 18-19 November 2025: Mandatory site visit at the National Athletics Centre, Budapest.
- 5 December 2025 (12:00 CET): Deadline for submission of full tender proposals.
- Early February 2026: Notification of successful/unsuccessful tenderers.
