Olympic winner Kenteris named best athlete of the Balkans in 2000

17 December 2000 – Sofia - Greek sprinter Konstantinos Kenteris, who caused a shock to win the 200m Olympic title, was on Sunday named athlete of the Balkans in 2000 by press agencies of six Balkan countries.

The 27-year-old Kenteris was chosen by agencies from Turkey, Greece, Yugoslavia, Macedonia, Romania and Bulgaria, who organised the vote.
