Jack Foster dies in tragic accident

Legendary New Zealand marathoner, Jack Foster, has been killed in a cycling accident on 5 June when he was struck by a car in Rotorura, New Zealand where he lived.  He died a short time later at an area hospital.

He was the oldest ever male IAAF World champion with his team gold from the 1975 World Cross Country Championships at the age of 42 but perhaps best known for his silver medal performance at the Marathon in the 1974 Commonwealth Games (2:11:18). He bagan running at the age of 32 years!
